Which South Korea theme park is for you?
South Korea is the ultimate stomping ground for kids and kids at heart. With not one, but two, highly-acclaimed theme parks, those craving for real adventure are sure to find it here. However, as much as we want to visit both Lotte World and Everland in one trip, sometimes the budget only allows for one. Which leaves us with the big question: Which theme park should I visit?
To make the decision-making process slightly easier for you, we’ve compared the two theme parks in several categories for you. Read on to see the results!
The Rides
Lotte World, with more than 40 rides, covers all the classic attractions. Rides are located both outdoors and indoors, helpfully air-conditioned to combat the summer heat or heated to ward off the winter chill. For those looking for thrilling rides, you can challenge yourself with the Gyro Drop and Gyro Swing, which reach up to 70 meters high!
Everland, the biggest theme park in Korea, has five separate themed zones. Roughly matching in total quantity, Everland’s rides tend to be larger than Lotte World’s. Most notably, the T Express, as the steepest ride in the world, tests the courage of even the bravest daredevils. Yet, kids will not be left out. Everland features Zootopia, an animal safari that’s sure to please every young animal lover.
The Location
Lotte World is located near Jamsil Station, which can be conveniently reached via public transportation. Purchase a Klook T-Money pass before your trip so you can conveniently top-up before hopping on a train!
On the other hand, Everland is much further, requiring an hour or more to get there from the city center. But luckily for you, Klook’s got a convenient roundtrip shuttle bus transfer from Seoul to Everland!
The Lines
Lines inevitably become part of the theme park experience. Both theme parks will most likely have long lines during the weekends but Lotte World may seem more crowded due to its smaller area. The best tip here is to use the Magic Pass, which is an app you can download that acts as a fast pass to shorten your waiting time at Lotte World.
Alternatively for Everland, guests will need a Q Pass, a first come first served on-site reservation system for rides. When you purchase your Everland tickets via Klook, you also get to skip the long ticketing lines and enter directly with your Klook Voucher!
Bad Weather Plan
Weather is unpredictable and can shape your theme park experience tremendously and in the event of bad weather, several rides will need to be closed for safety reasons. As an indoor theme park, Lotte World is less likely to be affected by bad and extreme weather changes.
If you find yourself stuck in the rain at Everland, you can visit some of the attractions that still run during the rain, such as the Mystery Mansion and Castle of Oz, or watch a film in the Victoria Theater.
