As the first night race in F1 history, the Singapore Grand Prix is unlike any other. The inaugural race began in 2008, where Fernando Alonso claimed victory at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
The Marina Bay Street Circuit is celebrated for its harbourside design and iconic cityscape. As drivers navigate the 4.94km circuit, they pass some of Singapore’s most famous landmarks, including the Singapore Flyer, the Esplanade and the Marina Bay Sands.

It’s one of the most physically demanding races on the F1 calendar, with Singapore’s humid conditions adding a layer of difficulty. There are 19 turns, and 62 laps total — a race distance of 306.143km.
Every edition of the Singapore Grand Prix has witnessed at least one safety car deployment, highlighting the race's challenging nature and the intense conditions drivers face. Drivers lose up to 3kg in body weight during the race!
With its combination of technical challenges and vibrant city backdrop, it’s no surprise that the Singapore GP Pte Ltd, the organization behind the Singapore Formula event, continues to elevate the race to new heights each year. With the contract extension in 2022, the Singapore Grand Prix will remain on the F1 calendar until at least 2028.
