What's the difference between Universal Studios Japan's Studio Pass and Express Pass?
The Studio Pass is the general admission ticket to Universal Studios Japan. This is the ticket that everyone must have in order to enjoy the park.
Express Passes are the optional extras that allow you to avoid some of the park's long lines.
How do Universal Express Passes work?
When you purchase the Universal Studios Japan Express Pass, you'll receive a ticket, which includes the attractions covered by your pass, attractions with timed entry, and a QR code, so you can enter the Express Lane. Each person must have their own pass to enter the Express Lane, where waiting times are half or even less than that of the Regular Lane.
There are two types of Express Passes that you can choose from — the Universal Studios Japan Express Pass 4, which allows you to skip the lines of up to four rides, and the Universal Studios Japan Express Pass 7, which will enable you to skip the lines of up to seven rides.
How to buy Universal Studios Japan Tickets
We highly recommend buying Universal Studios Japan Express Passes in advance because there are only a limited number of passes available each day! The Express Pass is an additional ticket bought along with the Studio Pass, which you'll still need to get into the park. Universal Express Passes and Universal Studios Japan tickets can be bought at the ticket window at the park itself or, better yet and more securely, in advance through Klook. Here's how you can buy your Universal Studios Japan tickets:
Step 1: Go to the Universal Studios Japan Studio Pass page on the Klook App or website
Step 2: Check the calendar and look for your preferred date of visit
Step 3: Select your ticket of choice. After which, you can click "Add to cart" if you're planning to buy more products, or "Book now" if you're ready to pay for your Universal Studios Japan ticket.
Step 4: Pay for your ticket. Klook offers several payment methods (credit/debit card, local e-wallet, etc.) in different languages!
Step 5: Enjoy a fuss-free entry to Universal Studios Japan with your e-ticket!
What is the difference between Universal Studios Express Passes?
There are two main categories of Universal Studios Express Passes. Here's a quick comparison of the two types:
Universal Express Pass 4
The Universal Express Pass 4 lets you skip the lines at four of the park's top attractions. There are different packages with different combinations of rides you can choose from. Experience popular attractions like Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, JAWS, Hollywood Dream - The Ride, The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man - The Ride 4K3D, and more. You'll also have guaranteed timed entry to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and/or Super Nintendo World.
Universal Express Pass 7
For the Universal Express Pass 7, you can enjoy easy access to seven rides and attractions depending on the package of your choice. Among the rides you can choose from are Space Fantasy The Ride, The Flying Dinosaur, Yoshi's Adventure, Flight of the Hippogriff, and SING on Tour. You'll also have timed entry to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter and/or Super Nintendo World.
How do I use a Universal Express Pass?
Here's how to use a Universal Express Pass at Universal Studios Japan after booking them on Klook:
- Once you have your Express Pass, make sure to look at the return window that is listed there. The earliest and latest times you can return to the attraction you want to visit are indicated here.
- When you're ready to visit the attraction, go to side of the queue for Universal Express Passes.
- Present your Universal Studios Japan Express Pass to the staff at the front.
- Enjoy the experience: After entering the Express Pass line, you can skip the regular queue and make the most of the attraction without having to wait in line for a long time.
Things to note about using your Universal Express Pass at Universal Studios Japan:
- If you're going with friends or family, every person in your group must have a Universal Studios Japan Express Pass of their own.
- Make sure you save or print the entire ticket (including the QR code!) because you'll need to present this to the park staff before going through the Express Lane! The ticket will also have the schedule for which you can access certain rides and attractions. Since timed-entry tickets can only be used at the listed attraction at the designated time, you'll want to have the entire pass on-hand.
Will I get to choose the time slot of my Universal Express Pass?
You will be given specific time slots to skip the lines for the rides that are included in your pass. If you book on Klook, you'll have the option to select your preferred time slots upon booking your Universal Studios Japan Express Pass!
Do I need a Universal Express Pass?
Universal Studios Japan has 11 areas with more than 30 rides and attractions. If you and your besties are looking to make the most of your visit and go through all of the attractions, then a Universal Express Pass is a must! It's best to book both the Studio Pass and Express Pass in advance for a fuss-free experience. Likewise, if you're a Potterhead or a Nintendo fan excited to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter or Super Nintendo World, you'll want to have the Universal Express Pass for guaranteed entry.
Is the Universal Studios Japan Express Pass worth it?
Do you want to risk missing out on experiencing Super Nintendo World or any of the other cool attractions during your day at Universal Studios Japan? If you don't, then the Universal Studios Japan Express Pass is absolutely worth it.
The Universal Express Pass helps you experience the best rides all in one day instead of multi-day trips or worse—missing out on the rides altogether!
