    Starting off with the most popular place in Japan—Tokyo! Despite the hustle and bustle, believe us when we say that there are some quaint hidden gems to see when the cherry trees are in full bloom. One of these is the Meguro River, which is tucked away in a residential area in Meguro.
    This river is a couple of kilometres long and is lined with 800 cherry blossom trees. In the area, you'll find many interesting establishments by the side of the streets, like curated vintage shops, independent clothing stores, and cafes. It's a defo a nice spot for viewing cherry blossoms which start to bloom.
    How to get there from Tokyo station: take the Yamanote Line, then get off at Meguro station. From there, the river will only be 10 minutes by foot!

    There's more to spring in Japan than just cherry blossoms. You'll be stoked to see just how many beautiful flower species bloom at this time of the year, which you can see at Farm Tomita. The history of this place throws it back to 1958 when Tadao Tomita planted a lavender field with his wife, which has now turned into one of the oldest and most famous lavender fields in Japan. It's home to the 150-year-old wisteria tree, which has been recognised as a national monument in the Tochigi prefecture.     Satte Gongendo Park, located in the Saitama prefecture, is another place you can go to during the cherry blossom season. Here, you'll see a field of yellow canola flowers and cherry blossom trees that hover over a street to form a tunnel-like space.

    This mountain in Yoshino town, Nara prefecture, has thousands of cherry trees that go into full bloom every early April for sakura season. In fact, it's known as one of the best places to see cherry blossoms in Japan. The cherry trees here are said to have been planted more than a thousand years ago. How cool is that? The trees were planted in four areas of the mountain, with different altitudes, so that the sakura trees bloom at various times. These places are great for bonding over some red bean mochi for your hanami picnics, a traditional practice where people gather together to view cherry blossom trees.

    This place in Fukuoka prefecture not only has 800 cherry trees but also overlooks views of the sea in Kitakyushu City! The cherry blossoms here are quite special because they bloom a bit earlier, starting in early February, which is why they call them "Kanzakura," or winter cherry blossoms. You can take a pleasant stroll around the area and stop by the viewpoint which overlooks Mt. Kaimon, too!
