Ubud – the cultural heart of Bali is definitely not to be missed on your trip to Indonesia. Located amongst the rice paddies and just an hour’s drive away from the airport, here’s what to expect in this quaint little town.
Ubud is not your ordinary Balinese beach party. You won’t find huge beach clubs and the plethora of water sport activities like in the other cities but instead you will find yoga studios, green cafes for your clean eats, hikes up active volcanoes and of course a cultural center like no other.

Probably the biggest yoga studio in Ubud, all you budding Yogis out there, you definitely would not want to miss a class here. Open everyday all year round, whether you’re an expert at inversions or just want to try a class, they have classes for all levels. Drop in for a class and experience an outdoor yoga class where the birds chirp and the wind blows as you take your deep breaths. It is truly a relaxing experience.
Ubud Monkey Forest
The Ubud monkey forest forms a sanctuary for the monkeys – which are considered sacred for the villagers of Padangtegal who own the forest. With over 700 monkeys in the forest, take a stroll through and look at the families of monkeys in action!
We’d recommend not holding onto any food or even plastic bottles because these eager hungry monkeys might just jump on you.

Lunch at Naughty Nuris

Definitely one of Bali’s must eats are the ribs at Naughty Nuris! Coupled with an ice cold martini, you might think it’s a strange food combination but trust us, it goes together as well as peanut butter and jelly. The tender fall of the bone ribs coated in a sticky sweet BBQ sauce will have you licking your fingers for more!

Tegenungan Waterfall

If you love nature, the Tegenungan waterfalls should definitely on your Ubud must visit list. As you walk through the lush greenery, you’ll be welcomed by the cascading falls which has an impressive volume of water at any time of year. Pack a swimsuit and take a dip in the cool plunge pool to cool off after climbing all those steps.

Ubud Royal Palace

The Ubud Royal Palace is one of the most prominent places in Ubud. Apart from being located in the middle of the main road in the city, the impressive well behaved Balinese inspired architecture is sure to catch your eye. Be sure to catch a photo at the front section of the Palace, entrance and walkthroughs for the front section is free!

Crispy, juicy suckling pig skin, need we say more? Ibu Oka is synonymous with the famous Balinese Babi Guling, which is rice topped with crispy suckling pig skin, grilled pork, sausages and deep fried pork. If you only eat 1 dish in Ubud, it has got to be this.

Mount Batur

White Water Rafting

We’re not sure if you’ll have the mental capacity to take in the lush green rainforests while rafting down those choppy waters but the views are pretty great!

Campuhan Ridge Walk
