You need to go on your own during the itinerary, which is a little far away from the city. It was raining heavily that day, but the tour guide patiently waited with me for the time to set off. During the itinerary, he was also very considerate and often concerned about my situation, and introduced many things about Siam in a very friendly way. The local workshops and markets helped me get to know Siam better.

We had a wonderful experience with our Angkor Wat Sunrise tour, and it was made truly incredible by our tour guide Sary! He provided fascinating insights into the temples' history and architecture, making the entire experience more meaningful. Sary knew all the best spots to take photos (and takes great photos himself) and helped us avoid the crowds. His knowledge and friendly approach really enhanced our visit. The ride from hotel and between the temples was very smooth and comfortable, and we were prvided with a cold bottle of water after every stop. Highly recommended!

We were very happy and satisfied with the trip to the countryside. It was such a great experience to be going around the area in a military jeep. We learnt a lot about the lives as well as the livelihood of the Cambodians who live in the countryside. We were brought to the war museum, were shown the ‘exotic’ food that Cambodians eat as their snacks, were brought to a place where the women made bamboo rice cakes and a few other interesting places. Our tour guide, Mr Sorphea was very experienced and he also shared with us a lot about countryside life and the leaves, plants and vegetables that they often used in their cooking and everyday lives. Overall, I highly recommend this tour, especially if you come from the city and want to experience what it feels to be living in a Southeast Asian countryside.

The tour to Angkor Wat was really memorable with the tour company. We really had a fantastic time with our tour guide, Mr Mony and our driver, Mr Tha. We actually booked a group tour but due to the low tourist season, it happened that we were the only ones who did the booking on that day and they still proceeded with the tour with a car at no additional charge. It became like a private tour for us. Mr Mony did a very great job in explaining to us about the history of the temples. I highly recommend booking this tour package if you are looking for a tour that is conducted in English. Mr Mony spoke good English and he was also very friendly and humorous. We really enjoyed our time. Our driver, Mr Tha although he spoke very little English, he was also very patient and helpful. The tour company also provided us with cooling lemongrass towel after each visit as it was very hot and humid (although we were actually used to the weather as we came from Singapore). Thank you very much for making our trip to Siem Reap memorable.

An excellent sunrise tour with our tour guide Mr. T! We were given superb historical information whilst exploring an amazing selection of temples. The monk’s blessing was also incredible and I felt I really experienced a part of Cambodian culture =]

Remarkable Landmarks and Must-Visit Sights

Main Temple Complex

The centerpiece of Angkor Wat, the main temple complex, is a stunning example of Khmer architecture. It features a quincunx of towers, extensive bas-reliefs, and intricate carvings that depict scenes from Hindu mythology.

Bas-Reliefs

Admire the detailed bas-reliefs that adorn the walls of Angkor Wat. These carvings illustrate epic tales from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, as well as historical events and celestial beings.

Moat and Outer Wall

Encircling the temple complex is a vast moat and an outer wall, creating a serene and majestic setting. The moat symbolizes the cosmic ocean surrounding Mount Meru, the mythical home of the gods.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II as a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu. It later transformed into a Buddhist temple, reflecting the region's religious evolution. The temple's architecture symbolizes Mount Meru, and its extensive bas-reliefs and devatas showcase the artistic prowess of the Khmer Empire.

UNESCO World Heritage Site

Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1992, Angkor Wat is recognized for its cultural and historical importance. It stands as a symbol of Cambodia, even depicted on the national flag.

Restoration Efforts

Over the years, Angkor Wat has undergone significant restoration efforts to preserve its grandeur. International teams from countries like France, India, Japan, and China have contributed to its conservation.

Culture and History

Angkor Wat and its surrounding temples are a testament to the rich cultural and historical heritage of the Khmer Empire. Built between the 9th and 15th centuries, these temples were originally dedicated to Hindu gods before being converted to Buddhist shrines. Today, they stand as a UNESCO World Heritage site, attracting millions of visitors each year.

Local Cuisine

Siem Reap offers a delightful culinary experience with a mix of traditional Khmer dishes and international cuisine. Don't miss trying Amok, a fragrant fish curry steamed in banana leaves, or Lok Lak, a stir-fried beef dish served with a tangy dipping sauce. For a more immersive experience, visit the local markets and street food stalls.
