The Art Of Pottery
Pottery-making has always been described as a therapeutic, relaxing, satisfying, and even stress-relieving activity - nothing beats the calming vibe of spinning clay, and creating a one-of-a-kind art piece with your very own bare hands. If you're looking to try something new, explore a new hobby, or just do something fun this weekend, why not try your hand at pottery?
22CraftStudio 土土工作坊
Located in Bandar Sungai Long in Kajang, 22CraftStudio was founded by a pottery enthusiast with the dreams of popularizing the understanding of pottery in Malaysia. Melt your stress and worries away by kneading, throwing, or hand-building your own ceramic masterpieces in this safe space.
The studio offers trial classes as well as package courses (that come in a bundle of 4 classes) that are great for beginners and even children! You'll get to choose whether to sign up for a throwing class or a handbuilding class, which are basically two different types of shaping techniques, both with their own charms and advantages.
Different Shaping Techniques
Throwing
- The throwing technique involves using a potter's wheel
- Allows you to create pieces relatively quickly and consistently
- Items have a more finished, uniform, and rounded look
- Good for creating functional pieces like cups and bowls
- You can also create large pieces with this technique
Handbuilding
- Allows for more creative and artistic expression
- Objects are created using just your hands and other simple tools
- You can create basically anything and all sorts of shapes!
- You can add fine details to your item
- Consists of methods like slabbing, pinching, coiling
- Good for creating intricate pieces and molds
- Great for beginners and even children (participants have to be aged 13+ to sign up for a throwing class at 22CraftStudio)
