1. The Replacement - Lodge & Kitchen
Inspired by the Melbourne brunch culture, The Replacement - Lodge & Kitchen is a minimalistic cafe that serves up yummy brunch options. Set in a heritage shophouse, its all-white facade and rustic wooden interior give this place a clean and comforting vibe, making it the perfect spot to chill with your friends.
Some of our favourites you should definitely try here are the Unagi Bao with Fries and their specialty churros. The Replacement has also just recently stirred up brand new offerings with their wide selection of tempting pastries, from which you can now enjoy wholesome sweet treats amidst the cafe’s modern settings.

2. MERAH Kitchen & Bar
MERAH Kitchen & Bar is a hidden gem near JB’s Bazaar Karat that is both IG-worthy and serves up delicious food. The front of this retro-style eatery is a colourful convenience store, but head up to the second floor where you’ll enter their old-school cafe and bar setup, with tons of funky and hipster-looking photo spots.
MERAH offers a variety of cuisines, primarily Pan-Asian inspired food and beverages. Take your pick from their eclectic menu that includes local dishes, Chinese dishes and many others. Their rice bowls are especially enjoyable, with the Malaysian Seabass Risotto being a top pick.

3. Bloom by Mok Mok
Enter what seems to be a beautiful garden realm at Bloom by Mok Mok, a garden-themed cafe decked out with flowers and potted plants. Their bright neon pink ‘Bloom’ sign hangs from the ceiling in the middle, surrounded with dried blooms hanging upside down and glowing softly in a pinkish hue. The cafe exudes a whimsical fairytale atmosphere that is perfect for a girly catch up or a romantic date.
Dine under the bouquets of colourful dried flowers with the cafe’s range of fusion food from rice bowls to burgers. Bloom by Mok Mok serves up a delectable Grilled Chicken Burger, which also goes well with their signature flower teas. Their desserts here are also an equally yummy treat - do try out their famous and super fluffy soufflé pancakes.

4. Bev C’afe
Fashion meets food here at Bev C’afe, a minimalistic cafe that was born out of a designer boutique. Head inside and upstairs to their cafe on the first floor, complete with industrial-style decor and a laid back vibe that makes it the perfect cosy nook to take a break and hide from the heat outside.
Their beverages here are a must-try, especially their Signature Espresso Ice Cube drinks. Each glass comes with a couple of chunky espresso ice cubes in a glass, together with your choice of flavoured syrup and milk to pour in. Pair your drink with a couple of their baked goods - choose from their selection of pies, cakes or better yet, their homemade charcoal croissant.

5. The FOUNDERS Cafe
This swanky cafe in JB has all the plants, all the space, and all the vibes. With high ceilings and artwork lining the cement walls, The FOUNDERS Cafe merges the popular modern industrial style of today with the hipster aesthetic of the 2010s. Not only is the food good, there are also plenty of spots for you to take photos with your friends.
Some of their recommended dishes include their Quesadilla (which, on the menu, is labelled as The King and The OG) with tomyam scrambled eggs and tons of cheese, as well as the Aussie Beef Patty Bagel with Sweet Potato Fries. If you're going in a group, check out their pizzas to share.

6. Sunday Morning Coffee Shop
Sunday Morning Coffee Shop is a quaint little cafe at Jalan Trus. The shop is located upstairs, so keep your eyes peeled when you're looking for it; you'll see a hanging wooden sign that says Film Lab & Drip Coffee. The light wood that furnishes the interior of the cafe fives it a warm and homey feeling, making it a great spot to catch up with friends of a cup of coffee.
Sunday Morning Coffee Shop serves homestyle Japanese food like Japanese curry rice and mentaiko udon. Based on their name, you can probably tell that they specialise in coffee, specifically drip coffee made with Japanese hand roasted beans. On top of all that, one of the most unique things about this cafe is that there's a film lab tucked inside!

This next cafe is a captivating spot in JB, with a laid back interior that complements their unassuming menu of simple, yet high quality food selections. The ambience at Mrs. Who feels cosy and posh at the same time, but above all, the cafe exudes a very welcoming vibe which can be seen through their friendly service, making you feel right at home.
In their homely space, Mrs. Who cooks up scrumptious meals that we can’t help but keep going back for. A few of our recommendations would be their Whó Fried Chicken Waffles, Pancakes with Poached Pear and Hot Chick Burger, all three unique dishes that are equally super yummy! The cafe also serves a variety of great coffee, tea and other refreshing drinks that you can order to complete your brunch here.

It’s definitely a nice spot for customers to chill or study at, accompanied with a slice of cake and a warm cup of coffee.

9. Principle Cafe by T.A.M.
The highly rated and highly sought after Principle Cafe by T.A.M. already has 2 outlets in Johor Bahru despite the fact that they only opened their doors to the public in November 2021. Located at Jalan Trus and Taman Mount Austin, Principle Cafe follows a simply yet impactful objective - to serve good food to the people of JB.
They have all the brunch essentials, but with their own special twist: PCT is dish of poached eggs, charred broccoli and truffle mashed potatoes, while their GCMB is a grilled sliced cheese brioche delight. Don't forget to check out their chicken rice bowls either, as they have unique flavours like mala and honey mustard glaze.

Nestled on historical Jalan Dhoby, Flowers In The Window is a lovely garden-themed cafe that’s perfect for brunching. Look for the cafe’s aesthetically-pleasing facade, with its iconic round window, dark green accents and leafy plants. Feel in awe as you step inside their whimsical garden setup - the whole space is decked with greenery and charming old-school furniture, creating this ‘beautiful mess’ that looks undeniably cosy and Instagrammable.

If minimalistic and industrial decor is something you love, then Keijometo is for you. This cafe has been making its rounds on social media ever since its inception in 2022 for its concrete tables and raw, abandoned warehouse vibe. Keijometo serves Japanese-inspired cuisine that leaves customers asking for more.
They're mostly known for their Mentaiko Tamago Sando, a thick and filling egg sandwich topped with torched mentaiko sauce. The cafe also offers dishes like Salmon Ochazuke and Truffle Carbonara. Don't forget to complete your meal with an iced yuri matcha or a hojicha cheesecake!
