The whole world was just sent to their rooms and put on the biggest time-out that ever did exist. We’re stuck in our homes and for most of us that means a lot of our holiday plans have been put on hold. This includes the wide-spread bucket list item of catching the Cherry Blossom season in Japan or Korea.
Traditionally Cherry Blossom season is one of the busiest times of year and provides travellers with the incredible opportunity to see Japan and Korea in all its beauty. This time of year attracts travellers from all over the world and gives them not only an amazing cultural experience, but the most stunning shots for the gram. Current events have meant that this festival season has been put on hold and festival goers need to change tact!
While we may need to wait a whole year to experience the beauty that is Cherry Blossom season, there is no reason why we can’t bring a virtual Cherry Blossom experience to our homes. Here are the best ways to enjoy this beautiful season in the comfort of your living room.
1. Virtual Cherry Blossom tour
Technology is really a stunning thing. It’s not only made physical travel so much simpler, with travel apps and booking platforms, but it has also enabled the travel experience to come right to our screens; which is particularly helpful during times like these.
While the physical Cherry Blossom season may not be seen by many, there are plenty of virtual tours that will enable you to see and enjoy this magical season. Virtual Tours and photo galleries are popping up everywhere, ensuring that there is some beauty and colour in your world.
While there are so many incredible virtual tours available, including the Brooklyn Botanic Garden Virtual Tour and the Macon’s cherry blossom bloom cam, one of our absolute favourites is the Google Local Guides collection, the Cherry Blossoms Around the World virtual tour. This tour lets travellers observe some of the most scenic cherry blossom sites from around the world. This special collection is picked by locals who review destinations on Google maps. These locations are then compiled by satellite imagery that puts you on the map and alongside the stunning blossoms. It really does feel like you’re right there in the midst of it all.
2. Cherry Blossom beauty products
Anyone who has ever been to the Cherry Blossoms Festival knows that the aroma this festival provides is truly unmatchable. While we know there is no way you can get the same experience, one way to awaken your senses is to invest in some Cherry Blossom beauty products, including body lotions, shower gels and perfumes.
With the Cherry Blossom season in full swing, there is definitely no shortage of products to make you feel connected to the reason for the season. Brands such as The Body Shop and L'Occitane produce some of our favourite Cherry Blossom products, including body lotion and face mists, so be sure to stock up and enjoy as much as you can right now.
3. Have a Cherry Blossom tea party
One of the most incredible things about the Cherry Blossom Festival in Japan and Korea is the fact that it ignites every sense, including taste! Sounds a little odd we know, but during this season Japan, in particular, is full of incredible Cherry Blossom flavoured goodies that travellers consume while taking in the beauty of the blossoms. Some of the exciting treats served during the festival include Cherry Blossom Milk Pudding, Cherry Blossom Cookies and Cherry Blossom tea!
Just because you’re at home doesn’t mean you need to miss out on this experience. There are so many incredible recipes out there to try, as well as Cherry Blossom infused tea to buy and many, many Cherry Blossom Cocktails that will surely be a hit! So get that apron on and invite your friends over for a tea party to remember!

4. Decorate a room in your house
If you can’t get to Japan or Korea for the Cherry Blossom season, then make the festival come to your living room. From synthetic Cherry Blossom trees that provide a fantastic centre piece (trust us, these things look sleek and in no way tacky) for any room, to wall stencils that create incredible murals the opportunity is endless to create the bright, spring vibes in your house.
Get decorating, friends! Just because you’re missing walking through endless amounts of beauty, doesn't mean you can’t make your home have a similar vibe.
5. Cherry Blossom origami
If you’re like me, time in isolation begs a need to get the creative juices flowing. Match this need with your desire to see the Cherry Blossom season in full swing and you have a match made in heaven for a creative afternoon of Japanese art.
Origami is the art of folding paper and there are some really fun Cherry Blossom origami lessons that will keep your creative juices flowing. Honestly, origami is surprisingly soothing for the soul and therapeutic. We promise you, once you start you won't be able to stop and well, let’s just say you may start to have your own festival happening in your living room before you know it!
