ESCAPE Cameron Highlands: A New European-Style Theme Park Scheduled To Open In 2023!

Dotted with dense forests and rolling tea plantations, Cameron Highlands is one of Malaysia's most popular getaway destinations and a rare spot where Malaysians can indulge in a cool climate and fresh air, away from the humidity of the lowlands.

In a virtual signing ceremony this week, it was unveiled that a brand new theme park that's unlike any other leisure attraction in the country is making its way to Cameron Highlands in 2023!

ESCAPE Cameron Highlands is set to be a nature-based, European-themed adventure park nestled amidst the greens of Cameron Highlands. It will be the third and biggest ESCAPE Theme Park in Malaysia following the popular ESCAPE Penang and the opening of the new ESCAPE Challenge Park in Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya last year.

ESCAPE Cameron Highlands is scheduled to launch in the first half of 2023 and will feature 20 exciting attractions including the first outdoor dry ski slope in Malaysia, a ski lift that will transport visitors through scenic routes, five European-themed villages at varying elevations (which will provide accommodation as well as host traditional European pastimes and activities!), and a variety of games set against the scenic landscape of Cameron Highlands. As it will be built at an elevation of 220 metres, visitors will get to have fun in the chilly breeze and temperate climate of Cameron Highlands.

The folks behind ESCAPE Cameron Highlands will be focusing on ensuring that the theme park is an eco-friendly, zero-energy attraction that will rely 100% on renewable energy to operate. It was mentioned that the theme park will be built with a "minimalist approach to construction, minimal disturbance to nature, lots of tree planting, minimal use of energy, rainwater harvesting, and lots of recycling initiatives". We truly hope that construction goes smoothly and that the beauty of Cameron Highlands' nature will be well-preserved in the process!

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri mentioned that the opening of new local destinations such as ESCAPE Cameron Highlands will hopefully restore confidence to travel and revive the domestic tourism that has taken a huge hit due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
