Genting Highlands
Set amidst a majestic 100 million-year-old rainforest at an elevation of 1,800 meters, Genting Highlands is one of Malaysia's most popular tourist destinations. The hill resort is home to a collection of hotels, casinos, shopping malls, the Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, as well as two theme parks (the Skytropolis Funland Indoor Theme Park, and an outdoor theme park that is currently under construction, estimated to open doors in 2021). It is a fun getaway spot that's popular amongst tourists and locals alike!
Genting Highlands Weather
Located at the peak of Mount Ulu Kali, Genting Highlands is often shrouded in mist and wrapped in cool mountain air. It has a spring-like subtropical highland climate, with daily temperatures falling between 10°C - 25°C. The temperature during the day typically reaches around 22°C and drops towards the evening, hovering around 12°C at night.
There is little fluctuation in the temperatures here throughout the year, with very minimal variations in the weather. However, there is usually constant (and sometimes heavy) rainfall during the wet season between October to February, accompanied by a drop in the temperature.
Best Time To Visit
Genting Highlands is great to visit all year round, though the busiest months for tourism are in June, July, and August. It is also typically busy during public holidays and school holidays in Malaysia, as well as during the year-end Christmas season.
If you wish to visit during a less-crowded period, avoid planning your visit on weekends, public holidays, and school holidays in Malaysia. It would also be best to avoid the rainy months (October - February) if you'd like to do sightseeing outdoors!
Dressing For The Weather
The weather at Genting Highlands is definitely chillier than in other places in Malaysia, making it a popular getaway spot for those who'd like to escape the heat and humidity in the city. Put on a long-sleeved shirt or pack a light jacket if you're afraid of the cold. Check the weather forecast before heading over, and bring along an umbrella or raincoat if there's a chance of rain.
For those who are planning to visit the casino, do note to pack your smart-casual outfit (e.g: covered shoes) and dress appropriately to avoid being denied entry. You are also encouraged to dress modestly if you're planning to visit the Chin Swee Caves Temple, another popular attraction in Genting Highlands!
