1. Getting to Hanmer Springs
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa is located in Hanmer Springs, a resort town in the Canterbury region of New Zealand’s South Island- about a 90-minute drive from the city of Christchurch.
By Car
If you’re driving, you can pin the address on your maps to 42 Amuri Avenue, Hanmer Springs. Parking is available on the streets surrounding the Thermal Pools.
By Shuttle Service

2. What to Expect
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa boasts of 22 outdoor thermal pools- from hot sulphur pools, relaxing rock pools to New Zealand’s largest aquatic thrill ride. Having such an expansive range of pools makes it the perfect escape for everyone- from young kids to the young at heart. In addition, they also have a day spa where one can enjoy private quiet time getting treatments, lounging in the sauna or steam rooms!
Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa is open from 10:00am to 9:00pm daily even on public holidays- except Christmas Day!

Cascade Pools
These pools sit among river boulder terraces and native gardens- they are the perfect pools to relax in- with matching soothing water sounds. Water therapy, anyone?
Aqua Therapy Pools
Want to go for a relaxing massage in the water? These pools have a series of massaging water jets, and soothing waterfalls to massage your aches away!
Hexagonal Pools
If you’re feeling sociable and are keen to have a chat with friends for the ultimate bonding experience, these pools are for you- with their inbuilt seating around the edge and in the centre of each pool and surrounding 360-degree mountain views.
Rainbow Pools

Sulphur Pools
If you want to go all-natural and can take in soaking in hot pools- you will love the Sulphur Pools cladded with Volcanic Rock, and where water is 100% natural- coming straight from the nearby thermal bore.
