Hong Kong is Giving Away 500,000 Free Air Tickets, Here's What You Need to Know

Hong Kong is on - here's how to win free air tickets to Hong Kong starting 1 March!

Hong Kong has just announced that they will be giving away 500,000 free air tickets to attract visitors! This is part of the new Hello Hong Kong campaign launched by the Hong Kong Tourism Board to woo tourists back. The campaign launched on 2 February.

We know you've got heaps of questions, so here's what we know about how to win these free air tickets and other exciting goodies to look forward to!

1. Air ticket giveaways will be determined by the Hong Kong airlines

It was reported that half a million free air tickets will be distributed to the three Hong Kong airlines - Cathay Pacific, Hong Kong Express and Hong Kong Airlines. The giveaway mechanisms will then be determined by the respective airlines. These can include lucky draws, first-come-first-serve, and even buy one get one free type of promotions.

2. When will these free air tickets be given away?

The free air tickets will be distributed over 6 months, starting 1 March and lasting till September 2023.

3. Who can win these free air tickets?

While the criteria for winning these air tickets have yet to be released by the Hong Kong airlines, they have reported where you can expect to win these tickets!

About three-quarters of the tickets will be given away to Asian visitors, targeting Southeast Asian countries, including Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Indonesia. Visitors from Northeast Asian countries and China can also look to win these tickets too.

These tickets will be released in the following phases:

March: Southeast Asia
April: China
May: Northeast Asia & other countries

Another 160,000 air tickets will also be given away to Hong Kong citizens as well starting July.

4. Are the air tickets really free?

While these air tickets on economy class are going to be free, winners will still have to pay all related surcharges, fees and taxes.

5. What else can I look forward to?

It was also announced that tourists can look forward to receiving a set of Hong Kong Goodies each starting 2 February 2023. With this set of goodies, tourists can redeem free drinks and also cash vouchers to use at attractions, shopping, and dining outlets.

These goodies include:

A complimentary drink from more than 100 bars, restaurants, and hotels here
HK$100 (~US$12.75) Cash Voucher to use at one of over 140 selected restaurants, shops or attractions
An exclusive memorabilia (worth over HK$100) when you visit one of the selected attractions or museums

6. Who is eligible for these Hong Kong Goodies?

Bona fide visitors staying in Hong Kong for 90 days or less are eligible for the Hong Kong Goodies. They can only redeem them once using a non-Hong Kong mobile number.
