Ever dream of the day when you travel without the anxiety of potentially losing all your belongings? Imagine walking past the crowds, skipping past the swarm of people waiting to collect their luggage, and heading straight from the plane and out the airport - wouldn’t that be a luxury?
Travelling light can be tricky, especially when you want to make sure you’ve got everything you need with you! Here are some tips to help you travel light so you can be worry-free on your next adventure:

    1. Colour coordinate your outfits

The easiest way to travel light is to reduce the number of outfits you bring and colour coordinate all your outfits and shoes - so they are always on-point and you avoid having a fashion faux pas. I usually bring 3 to 6 outfits and 1 to 2 pairs of shoes, depending on the climate and itinerary. During my trip, I would drop off my laundry at the hotel lobby or the laundromat and pick them up towards the end of the day.

    2. Skip your toiletries

Customs imposes a strict a limit on the liquids you’re able to bring in your carry on luggage, which is 100 ml per bottle. It may not be sufficient if you are going on a long holiday - so why bother packing them at all? You can use the toiletries and towels provided by your accommodation or buy them when you land. If you insist on having your essential toiletries such as deodorant and sunscreen in your carry on luggage, bring the solid roll-ons to work around the liquid limit.

    3. Pack a few days prior to departure

Packing your luggage a few days ahead gives you time to reconsider the items you bring on your holiday. Before you start packing your luggage, write a list of things you think you need for your holiday. Then remove any items that aren’t suitable for more than one occasion.

    4. Roll em' up

Roll all your clothes to save space in your carry on luggage. Compartmentalise everything in packing cubes to keep them organised, and don’t forget to store the remaining items in the nooks and crannies of your luggage to maximise space.

    5. Choose your carry on luggage wisely

All airlines have a weight limit for carry on luggage, which is usually around 7 kilograms. The limit takes into account the weight of your luggage so it makes most sense to use the lightest carry on luggage you can possibly find. Alternatively, you can use a backpack, which will be much lighter than a suitcase as it does not have wheels and a hard outer shell. I usually use a 30 litre backpack, which is the ideal size for a week of holiday. A 30 litre backpack usually has the required dimensions for a carry on luggage and it will also give you extra room for shopping!
If you find it a hassle carrying your luggage or backpack from the airport to your hotel and vice versa, you can always opt for a luggage delivery service. Easily get your luggage transported from the airport to your accommodation with a peace of mind, and receive your luggage at your destination on the same day! Most countries have a luggage delivery service so you can travel light.
If you are travelling solo, with your friends or with kids and prefer to have your luggage with you, it is best to arrange an airport transfer before you land at the airport. Airport transfers include private car charter, express trains, shuttle buses and more. Most airport transfers at Klook have instant confirmation, which means you can easily book it prior to departure and hop on to your transfer upon arrival. All airport transfers including private car charter have a fixed price so you don’t have to worry about paying more. Include any requirements such as a child seat during your booking and you are good to go!
