Joey Bernardino, the Director for Sales and Marketing for Lio Estate Tourism, mentioned that most contractors and construction professionals in the country focus more on getting the job done, and therefore neglect to practice eco-friendly practices. These practices can lead developers to use illegally sourced building materials, create unsanitary work areas, and degrade natural areas due to the illegal cutting of trees. Considering that the estate was filled with natural resources, it was important for them to mandate Be GREEN (Guard, Respect, Educate El Nido) orientations, or environmental education seminars, for all its contractors.

In addition to this, the resort was strategically designed to minimize the upkeep needed. Aligned with their standards of sustainability, the less the resort has to maintain, the better it is ecologically. The fewer materials and equipment for cleaning, the less carbon footprint will be emitted from this resort in El Nido.

Some of their other green practices include the removal of single-use plastics, as the hotel provides water pitchers in each room and water dispensers placed strategically on every floor to lessen the use of plastic bottles. Huni Lio’s COVID-19 Guidelines

Huni Lio is now accepting bookings at a managed occupancy following an expanded “travel bubble” program for Manila-based guests
Huni Lio is currently servicing guests on select 4 days and 3 nights stay dates with chartered flights via AirSwift from NAIA Terminal 3 in Manila to El Nido, and vice versa only
Guests of all ages will be accepted. However, those with pre-existing health risks or comorbidities will not be accommodated for the time being (e.g, cancer, serious heart condition, chronic lung disease, and/or pregnancy). Those with hypertension, diabetes, and/or moderate to severe asthma may be accepted for as long as a medical clearance or fit to travel certificate is provided upon reservation
The Local Government of El Nido, Palawan requires all guests coming from outside the province to take a RT-PCR test not earlier than 48 hours prior scheduled departure from a Department of Health (DOH) accredited facility
All guests and staff are required to wear face masks at all times within the resort, and sanitation stations are placed throughout the resort for everyone’s convenience as well
