Ready for a cafe-hopping weekend?
The weekend is here! After a long week of hard work, it's finally time to sit back, relax, and indulge in all of life's offerings. You deserve a hearty meal and a good cup of coffee, so here's a guide to some of the best cafes and restaurants in Klang Valley.
Best cafes in KL
1. Flaaah the Bakery
Ever since its inception, homegrown cafe Flaaah the Bakery has been on every pastry-loving Malaysian’s radar. Their name “flaaah” derives from the way we pronounce the word “flour”— a fun and cheeky way to show their identity as a local bakery.
Flaaah is an eatery that checks all the boxes: buttery pastries that are as delicious as they are beautiful, a wide variety of coffees and teas, and warm service. They specialise in all kinds of sweet and savoury treats like tarts, pies, croissants, sandwiches, and more. From tangy raspberry and lemon meringue tarts, to root vegetable quiches and tartines, you’re spoilt for choice.
Other than their flagship store in KL’s city centre, they’ve also expanded to The Gardens Mall, Suria KLCC, and Little Cup at Plaza Batai.

Urban Daybreak is a little brunch spot that originated from Penang. The cafe became a huge hit in the northern state within a few months of its launch, which naturally led to requests for an outlet in KL. The menu here consists of a range of Australian-inspired breakfast and brunch dishes from chicken and pork chorizo pasta to cured salmon and chopped egg tartines. Are you more of a sweet tooth? If yes, don’t fret, as Urban Daybreak has its fair share of delicious treats like vegan blueberry pancakes and pistachio cake.

LaGula by The Hungry Tapir is a vegan resto bar that’s hard to miss if you’re walking past the area— it’s completely decked out in pink, plants, and pastries. The thought of having a fully vegan meal when you’re not on a plant-based diet can seem daunting, but we can confidently say that the food served here is far from boring. They're more than just an eatery, it’s also a mini live music hub at times, with DJs and groovy tunes.
LaGula offers all the brunch staples. The LaGula Big Brekkie is your classic big breakfast plate with a vegan twist. This dish features homemade smoky chickpea sausage and scrambled tofu! Other yummy treats you can look forward to are Mama’s Wanton Mee served with vegan char siew and ‘Phish’ & Chips starring miso banana blossom.
