Best Things To Do In Langkawi With Kids
1. Langkawi SkyCab
Your trip to Langkawi is incomplete without a ride on the world-famous Langkawi SkyCab, a cable car that owns a spot on the Malaysia Book of Records for being 'The Longest Free Span Mono-Cable'. Hop on and get ready for spectacular views of mountains, valleys, and the sea right beneath your feet. For those with brave hearts, level-up your experience by opting for a package with the glass bottom gondola! Klook tickets also come with Express Lane options so you don't have to be stuck in queue with your grumpy little ones.
2. Langkawi Skybridge
The 15-minute Langkawi SkyCab ride will lead you up to the magnificent Langkawi Skybridge located 2,300ft above sea level. This stunning bridge is amongst the longest curved pedestrian bridges in the world and offers 360° panoramic views of the island. The bridge is rated one of the top must-visits in Langkawi and definitely shouldn't be missed. Langkawi Skybridge tickets are bookable at discounted rates on Klook!
3. Dream Forest Langkawi
Another activity that both adults and kids will enjoy is Dream Forest Langkawi, an enchanting realm where the island’s legendary stories come to life. Here, art and technology merge to create a modern narrative experience.
Your adventure will guide you through a stunning forest where the urban legends of Tasik Dayang Bunting, the Giants of Langkawi, and Merong Mahawangsa are gradually revealed. With features like 360-degree animated projections, a cave, and illuminated trails, this immersive park vividly retell these tales through sound, light, and a little bit of magic.
4. Oriental Village
The Oriental Village is located at the Base Station of the Langkawi cable car. This open-air complex is full of quirky stalls, retail stores, restaurants, a spa that offers Thai massage services, an animal farm, and even a 3D Art Museum. There's so much to see and do here especially with kids, so be sure to allocate some time to explore the village before or after you hop on the cable car.
There are also many family-friendly, casual restaurants in the Oriental Village, including a food court where you can indulge in authentic Malaysian dishes such as nasi lemak, chicken rice, nasi campur, and more. Best part? Admission to the Oriental Village is free! If you want to kill 4 birds with 1 stone, check out this Langkawi private tour to visit Oriental Village, SkyCab, Sky Bridge, and Cenang Beach!
5. Eagle Square
The large 12-metre tall eagle sculpture at the Langkawi Eagle Square (also known as Dataran Lang in local language) is one of the island's most recognizable monuments, built as an emblem of Langkawi. The eagle stands proudly on a blue star-shaped platform with its wings spread, looking ready to soar into the sky.
Pop by for a selfie or family photo with Langkawi's iconic statue as a memory of your visit! It's best to visit during sunrise or sunset because the sun can get pretty unforgivable in the afternoon as the area is unshaded. Alternatively, you can also catch a glimpse of the eagle lit up with lights upon nightfall.
6. Langkawi Underwater World
The Langkawi Underwater World is one of the largest aquariums in Malaysia. It's home to 4,000 different aquatic species and is almost six acres big. Our favourite part of the space is the gigantic, 15 meter-long tunnel where you can get up-close and personal with sharks, giant stingrays, groupers, and turtles. You can also befriend adorable penguins at the Penguinarium here! Book your open-dated entry tickets on Klook to enjoy discounted rates and skip-the-queue at the ticketing counter.
7. Paradise 101
Set on a manmade island close to Pantai Kok, Paradise 101 is a private island accessible via a short boat ride. Located smack in the middle of the beautiful Andaman Sea and surrounded by sandy beach and swaying casuarina trees, it's the spot for an ultimate day out in the sand, sun, and sea.
The island is a hub for adventure as well as relaxation, and is equipped with everything from an inflatable waterpark to watersports like banana boat rides, jet skiing, parasailing, ziplining, and more. You won't need to worry about your kids getting lost on a crowded beach once you get here!
8. Langkawi Wildlife Park
The Langkawi Wildlife Park is perfect for kids who love animals! With a tropical rainforest ambience, the park is home to over 150 species of animals and birds from all over the globe such as bearcats, mousedeer, ostriches, raccoons, guinea pigs, and an aviary full of free-flying birds.
One great thing about the Langkawi Wildlife Park is the fact that it's a fully-covered space with covered walkways and sheltered exhibit areas - this way you'll get to take a break from the sun and explore it whether rain or shine. Make sure you check the park's schedule and don't miss out on the special feeding times throughout the day!
9. Crocodile Adventureland
The Langkawi Crocodile Adventureland is a crocodile farm located in the Teluk Datai Bay area at the northwestern end of the island. Spread across 20 acres of land, you can get up-close and personal with one of the largest collections of Malaysian saltwater crocodiles of various different species and sizes here! The farm is well-maintained and promises a fun, educational visit - visitors can even hand-feed young crocodiles and watch them perform stunts.
10. Sunset Dinner Cruise
The popular Langkawi Sunset Dinner Cruise is definitely an experience you have to add onto your itinerary. Catch a breathtaking sunset over the tranquil Andaman Sea with your family as you enjoy dinner aboard a luxury yacht. If you're lucky, you may even catch sight of spinner dolphins and flying fish!
Be sure to pack your swimming attire for a dip in the saltwater jacuzzi to cool it off after a satisfying feast. While the experience is popular amongst couples, it's also great for families. Book your cruise package on Klook that comes inclusive of a set meal, drink, insurance, and an English-speaking guide.
11. Cenang Beach Water Activities
Pantai Cenang is undoubtedly Langkawi's most popular, vibrant, and exciting beach with lots of things to do, see, and eat in along its long stretch. The beach is lined with restaurants, duty-free shopping complexes, resorts, massage parlours, the Langkawi Underwater World, and more.
Watersports are popular here, and your kids will be spoilt for choice with so many fun activities available! Avoid falling for hiked-up prices offered by local operators at the beach. Pre-book your water activities on Klook for convenience, peace of mind, and amazing savings.
12. Splash Out Water Theme Park
This one's a must-visit in Langkawi if you're travelling with children! Splash Out is Langkawi's famous water theme park with tons of fun rides and attractions for both the young and the young-at-heart. Ride 5-foot waves at the Wild Water, plunge down twisting water slides, and catch a barrelful of water at the Big Splash Kingdom. You can easily spend half a day here going through the thrilling rides.
13. Langkawi Skytrex Adventure
Let your little ones fly, glide, swing, and dangle like Tarzan at Langkawi Skytrex Adventure! While this sounds a bit daunting in words, trust that you'll be in the good hands of the folks at Langkawi Skytrex as they suspend you above the lush tropical rainforest. You'll get to choose a Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced package that comes with different types of attractions and obstacles that will suit your age and stamina level.
14. Kid-Friendly Beaches
From bustling beaches to tranquil, relaxing shores, Langkawi boasts a great list of lovely sandy beaches waiting to be explored. Not all beaches in Langkawi are kid-friendly as the waves are rough in some, and other quieter stretches are more suitable for couples and adults. Check out our guide on the best beaches in Langkawi to choose a good one for you to let your little ones build sandcastles and run around at:
15. Island Hopping
Island hopping is a must-do fun activity when in Langkawi! Hop on a speedboat and explore unique islands blessed with crystal clear waters and sandy beaches. Our favourite spots to explore include the Beras Basah Island (Wet Rice Island), Pulau Dayung Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden), and Pulau Singa Besar, where you can witness magnificent eagles feeding right before your eyes.
