"Did You Know?" LEGOLAND Malaysia Edition
1. It is the first international theme park in Malaysia
There was a lot of excitement surrounding the theme park before it opened its doors on 15 September 2012, mainly because Legoland Malaysia is the first international theme park to set foot in Malaysia. Its official opening was graced by Sultan Ibrahim Ismail, the Sultan of Johor. Besides that, Legoland Malaysia is also the 1st Legoland theme park in Asia and the 6th in the world!
2. It's home to the first LEGO-themed Virtual Reality Roller Coaster
In late 2017, Legoland Malaysia launched the first-ever LEGO-themed VR roller coaster - The Great LEGO® Race. The park in Malaysia was the first to bring the experience to life, followed by Legoland Resorts in Florida and Germany in 2018.
The ride combines roller coaster thrills with virtual reality (VR) technology - riders will put on VR headsets and be transported into a spectacular environment completely constructed out of LEGO bricks!
Feel the excitement and adrenaline rush creep in the moment you strap on your headset, and get ready to speed away along with sudden drops, tumbles, and twists! You'll be left wanting a second ride the moment you end your first.
3. The Miniland took 3 years to complete
Miniland is an attraction available at all Legoland Resorts and they are interactive zones that pay tribute to iconic landmarks across the globe with masterpieces built completely out of LEGO bricks. The Miniland at Legoland Malaysia brings Asia's iconic landmarks to life with over 30 million LEGO bricks, built over 3 years!
Some buildings you can spot here include the Petronas Twin Towers (that stands at nearly 10 metres and is constructed out of 500,000 LEGO bricks), Singapore's Merlion, India's Taj Mahal, and even some unique local landmarks of Johor. Many of these buildings are animated at the touch of a button, and you will be able to enjoy the sights paired with sounds and animation.
4. The park is huge - we're not kidding
Legoland Malaysia occupies an area equivalent to 50 full-size football pitches and is filled with more than 15,000 LEGO models made from over 60 million LEGO bricks. Due to the size of the park, we would recommend allocating a full day for your visit to try out everything - make sure you get a Combo Ticket that will allow you access to all zones within the park!
Our #KlookTip is to start with the themed parks first, then have some fun at the water park before ending your day at the SEA LIFE aquarium.
5. The LEGO Theme Rooms will delight every child
With a vibrant facade that looks as if it's constructed out of oversized LEGO bricks and 258 theme rooms packed with LEGO awesomeness, Legoland Hotel Malaysia is a great spot for a family staycation. The hotel is located just next to the theme park, so you'll be able to get a good night's sleep after a full day of fun.
Choose a room from 4 main themes - the rooms are decked with all sorts of LEGO relics, have bunk beds that are perfect for the little ones, and even come with a secret treasure chest. Solve clues and bring home a set of exclusive LEGO merchandise!
6. There's a 'workshop' for aspiring LEGO engineers
Calling all aspiring LEGO engineers - young or old! If you (or your child) have always loved letting your imagination run wild with LEGO bricks, be sure to add the Build & Test Centre to your Legoland Malaysia checklist!
This comfortable space is dedicated to the imagination and creativity of LEGO lovers, and will allow you to spend hours putting together your own LEGO creations. You can even test out the strength of your LEGO building at the earthquake table and race your very own LEGO car.
7. There's an aquarium featuring 13,000 sea creatures
Most people are aware about the Theme Park and Water Park in Legoland Malaysia, but SEA LIFE is a lesser-known and extremely underrated zone in the park. SEA LIFE is a new addition to the park, having only opened its doors to public in 2019.
It is home to over 13,000 sea creatures from 120 species and will allow guests to explore the amazing underwater world via an interactive educational journey. While it's not huge, the exhibits here are beautiful, and there are interactive experiences dotted around to keep your little ones engaged (including a Touch Pool!).
8. You can Meet-And-Greet LEGO men
Yes, you can hug, high-five, and take photos with LEGO characters throughout the day! Besides normal meet-and-greet sessions, there are also interactive shows scheduled throughout the day which you can sit in, dance, and sing along to.
Be sure to check the schedule for the shows and performances on the Legoland Malaysia official site to plan your visit accordingly. Our favourite LEGO character is definitely the kind and gentle wizard!
9. It's fun for adults as well
Contrary to popular belief, Legoland Malaysia is tons of fun for adults as well! While there are a lot of mild, kid-oriented rides in the park, there are also many attractions that are action-packed and guaranteed to provide a fun time for the adults, including 3 roller coasters and a 4D cinema. Besides, if you've been a LEGO fan growing up, there's so much you'll be amazed at here - especially at Miniland!
