A Hidden Steakhouse In Publika
The Publika Shopping Gallery in Solaris Dutamas is well-known by many locals for its lively collection of independent boutique stores, charming cafes and vibrant pubs, but recently we stumbled upon the hidden gem that is Pampas Boutique Steakhouse and would love to share our dining experience here with you!
Brought to you by the same team behind Pampas Steakhouse Old Malaya and Pier 12 Seafood Tavern, you can now experience their expertise in steak house dining at Pampas Boutique Steakhouse. Perfect for romantic dinner dates or intimate celebratory dinners, this steakhouse is definitely one of the top places to eat in Publika. Read on to find out more of our experience here!
The Restaurant & Setting
Unlike its other outlets, Pampas Boutique Steakhouse is in a discreet location, making it ideal for an intimate dining experience. Locating it may require a little manoeuvring if you're unfamiliar with Publika, as the restaurant is situated on the first floor of shop lots outside of the main shopping gallery. #KlookTip: it's right next to the popular The Red Beanbag cafe!
At the restaurant, you'll have the option to sit outdoors at the patio, decked with wine barrel bar tables and stools that offer you elevated seats with views of the brightly-lit Publika shopping complex. However, we chose to sit indoors and were delighted to be greeted by friendly staff, who warmly welcomed and ushered us towards our reserved seats inside.
We loved how the restaurant was simple, yet elegantly furnished with sophisticated table setups, an exposed white brick wall and iron chandelier lights. Together with warm lighting and a pop of colour from vibrant wall artworks of Diego Maradona and Che Guevara, the atmosphere here made our dining experience a truly inviting and classy affair.
Pampas Boutique Steakhouse Menu
Pampas Boutique Steakhouse has a simple one-page menu that feature many of their signature dishes, from pastas to seafood and steaks. Many of these dishes are crowd favourites served at their other Pampas outlets as well!
What We Ordered At Pampas Boutique Steakhouse
Starters
To start off our dinner, we asked for their bestselling dishes to try out. For our introductory plates, we ordered the Gambas (RM38), fresh, juicy tiger prawns sautéed and served in their special sauce with a side of salad. Plentiful of garlic bread was also given to mop up the flavourful sauce - we couldn't think of a better way to start off our night!
We were also recommended to try out the Bresaola Beef Carpaccio (RM38) and Smoked Salmon Roulade (RM38), so we did! The carpaccio was a generous serving of sliced air dried beef, rocket salad and onion doused in tangy dressing, while the smoked salmon roulade came with a delightful filling of cream cheese and dill. Both of these were refreshing, light bites and we enjoyed them, especially the salmon roulade!
Wine List
To accompany our food, Pampas Boutique Steakhouse offered us a varied wine list to choose from, but we decided to forgo the menu because the restaurant has their very own 'wine cellar' at the outlet for us to browse through their impressive repertoire of wines and liquors.
The tiny room is situated at the front of the restaurant, stocked with rows of wine and liquor bottles from various brands, neatly arranged and displayed for customers' perusal. They even had soju and beer options if you'd prefer to wash down your food with those instead! After we had our fun browsing, we finally settled with a bottle of red wine.
Mains
For our mains, there were two things that we knew we wanted to try out. My date is a fan of lamb, so the Braised Lamb Shank (RM58) was a must-order for us, cooked in a delightful rosemary sauce and served atop a heap of creamy mashed potato. The meat was so smooth and tender - it split open so perfectly the moment we cut in!
I love my carbs, so naturally, I had to order a plate of pasta as well. When I asked the manager for a recommendation, she easily suggested their Prawn Linguine with Creamy Curry Sauce (RM48) and I trusted her, with no regrets at all! It was probably our prettiest plate of the night, a serving of linguine in the restaurant's signature creamy curry sauce, topped with a huge tiger prawn and a sprinkle of parmesan. I for one would never imagine myself loving curry in a pasta dish but here we are - it was absolutely delicious!
Signature Steaks
Of course we had to save the best for last. Next on our selection were the signature steaks from Pampas. We decided to go with 250g of the Black Angus Rib Eye (RM118) and another 250g of the Black Angus Beef Tenderloin (RM128). Both were served perfectly medium rare, just like we requested. It's no surprise that this was the highlight of our night!
Each steak came with rocket salad and a baked jacket potato, together with our choice of sauces. We decided to pair our steaks with their creamy mushroom sauce and black pepper sauce. Our personal favourite between the steaks would be the rib eye - the meat was juicy and tender, a literal melt-in-the-mouth sensation! We enjoyed it especially with the flavourful black pepper sauce that gave the steak an extra kick.
