Step into the enchanting world of Phuket Weekend Market, a captivating blend of treasures, curios (rare and intriguing objects), live animals, keepsakes, and an array of delectable local delicacies. Nestled along Chao Fa West Road, just a stone's throw from Old Phuket Town and in close proximity to Central Festival, this bustling marketplace goes by several names–Naka Market, Talad Tai Rot, or even the Chaofa Variety Weekend Market.
As the biggest night market in Old Phuket Town, it is alluring even to those without a shopping agenda. It isn't a matter of “What can I find here?” it's a matter of “How much time do I have?” In Phuket Weekend Market, the list of wares seems endless, and the experience is simply unforgettable.
The Phuket Weekend Night Market is conveniently divided into covered and open sections. In the covered area, most tourists discover an array of secondhand treasures, including a vast selection of jeans, T-shirts, curios, and souvenirs. It's important to note that this part of the market can get quite stuffy, especially during the muggy rainy season.
Venture into the uncovered section, and you'll encounter a labyrinth of stalls brimming with delights. Here, you can browse toys, mobile phones, a cornucopia of electronics, DVDs, CDs, footwear, bags, accessories, clothing, and just about everything else you can imagine.
At the market's western end, a gastronomic adventure awaits in the food section. Here, you can indulge in boiled buttered corn on the cob, zesty sausages, fried chicken, delectable fishcakes, vegetable skewers, and even deep-fried insects for the adventurous palate. For those seeking a full meal, cozy small restaurants offer a variety of fresh seafood platters and fried rice bowls. And, of course, you can wash it all down with an ice-cold beer to complete your night market experience.

Known officially as the OTOP Shopping Paradise, this market was conceived as a local showcase, celebrating the unique handicrafts and original products hailing from Thailand's diverse provinces.
The enigmatic acronym “OTOP” stands for “One Tambon One Product,” which means “One District One Product”. It is conveniently within walking distance from the renowned Jungceylon shopping center on the second road of Patong Beach.
OTOP was envisioned as a hub for local pottery, accessories, cotton goods, silk attire, household articles, and regional cuisine. It is also one of the famous nightlife spots in Phuket for its cozy beer bars with their recognizable neon lights. Among the crowd favorites with their bright neon lights, live music, and sound systems are Bombay Blue, Ronnie Kangaroo Bar, Bourbon Bar, Cockatoo Bar, and True Blue Bar.
The amiable staff and congenial atmosphere make it a perfect setting to unwind in the evening, enjoying some games in the company of fellow travellers.

In recent years, the Karon Temple Market has steadily risen in popularity, and it's now a much-anticipated location that draws people who plan their evenings around it. This market adds a touch of exotic allure with its setting at a temple on the outskirts of Karon–500 meters from the Karon Circle. Given the relatively few attractions around Karon Beach, this vibrant fair breathes new life into the area, providing a welcoming dose of entertainment and fun.
As the arvo sun begins to wane, the Karon Temple Market comes to life, sprawling across the temple grounds with a surprising expanse of stalls and entertainment. It's a haven for budget shoppers, offering a diverse array of clothing suitable for the tropical climate: light, colorful dresses, shorts, and the ever-popular cotton elephant pants that are big with young travellers. Of course, you'll also encounter an array of T-shirts emblazoned with amusing and often quirky messages–perfect for any beach attire.
One of the market's standout features is its tantalizing selection of authentic Thai dishes. Fear not when it comes to trying street food in Thailand; it's a safe and delightful culinary adventure. While there's always a minor risk factor, the consensus is that 'street food is safe,' and the Karon Temple Market is a prime spot to indulge your taste buds.
The fruit offerings are equally tempting, with mangosteens, passion fruits, and unique-tasting bananas that differ from what you would commonly find at home. And then, there's the pièce de résistance: the famous mango sticky rice, a Thai dessert that competes in popularity with the beloved banana pancake. Don't miss a chance to savor these delectable treats!

Open: Tuesday and Friday from 4 pm to 10 pm

The famous street Bangla Road, affectionately known as Bangla Walking Street, Thanon Bangla, or Soi Bangla, has long held its reputation as the unrivaled epicenter of Phuket's nightlife. Each night, a fierce battle for nocturnal supremacy unfolds as beer bars, live music venues with loud techno music, rooftop establishments, night clubs, and renowned go-go bars vie for attention.
The focal point of interest along Bangla Walking Street has shifted with the times, but the dynamic Patong nightlife scene is always worth exploring. Along the Patong Walking Street lie alleyways known locally as Sois, where you'll discover more modest yet often more affordable beer bars. Some of the most notable Sois are Soi Freedom (also known as Soi Eric), Soi Seadragon, Soi Romanee, and Soi Gonzo.
As you stroll down Bangla Walking Street, you'll encounter numerous open-fronted beer bars with live music on either side, each staffed by bar girls who warmly invite you to join them for a drink and perhaps engage in some lighthearted bar games. Their hospitality extends to everyone, be it solo travelers, couples, men, or women. As you approach, they'll present you with a menu reflecting cheap drinks–inviting you to savor the bustling atmosphere.

Nestled amidst the labyrinthine alleys and petite hotels, Kata Night Market remains somewhat of a hidden gem. It is concealed in the heart of Kata Beach and discreetly tucked behind the Club Med Hotel. Yet, don't let its unassuming facade fool you – this night market sprawls extensively and is already gaining a reputation for its sumptuous yet budget-friendly culinary offerings that are showcased through an array of diminutive stalls.
Among the market's star attractions, the fruit stalls reign supreme — with a special nod to those dishing out the beloved "Khao Niaow Ma Muang," better recognized as the Mango Sticky Rice.
Another sweet sensation that tempts taste buds of all kinds of preferences is what visitors affectionately refer to as banana pancakes. Locally, it's known as "Roti" for its distinctive preparation that sets it apart from traditional pancakes. The ice cream booth is another showstopper, drawing crowds with its captivating, rhythmic preparation process. This is indubitably a delightful and budget-friendly treat that's as fun to watch as it is to savor.

Embrace the vibrant atmosphere every Friday evening at the Fun Friday Avenue Market, a charming weekend affair that springs to life at Boat Avenue en route to Phuket Laguna. While it may be modest in size, it's a delightful addition to your Bangtao Beach stay that offers a taste of Thailand's bustling market culture–complete with an abundance of tempting food options.
The Fun Friday weekend market injects a dose of liveliness into Boat Avenue. While it may not rival the fame of the Phuket Weekend Market or Chillva Market in terms of size, it boasts its unique charm. If you've noticed a lack of local activity around your Bang Tao hotel, this market is the perfect remedy. It's a lively, colorful gathering that adds a dash of excitement to your experience.
As you wander through the market, your senses will be tantalized by the aroma of meats and fish on the barbie, sizzling noodles, and simmering delights. Thailand is known for its meatballs and fish balls. A fair warning, though! They can be a tad rubbery and keep you guessing about their contents. Amidst the culinary delights, you'll also find refreshing smoothies, vibrant salads, and the ever-popular Som Tam (Thai Papaya Salad).
And for those not yet in the mood for a meal, "The Mexican" beckons. This charming, permanent bar takes center stage at the market, offering refreshing Mojitos, Margaritas, and exotic cocktails–all priced at an enticing 99 Baht per glass. Its strategic location at the heart of the market ensures you won't miss this delightful stop on your evening adventure.
Location: Boat Avenue, Cherngtalay, Thalang, Phuket 83110 Thailand
