Best time to visit Pulau Redang
Due to its location on the East Coast, Pulau Redang is susceptible to the annual monsoon season, whereby heavy rain and winds make it unsafe to travel to. The island is generally closed from October and reopens by March/April.
The most popular months to visit Redang are from June to August due to great weather and diving conditions. However, if you're travelling on a budget and wish to avoid crowded beaches and expensive lodging, we'd highly recommend planning your trip during the non-peak months!

With over 20 dive sites, family-friendly snorkelling spots, fun bars, and luxurious spas, Pulau Redang offers fun and relaxation for all types of travellers. Here's a list of some of the best things to do on Redang Island:
1. Snorkelling
The crystal clear waters of Pulau Redang makes snorkeling a must-do activity here - also, since the waves are generally calm and most areas have pretty shallow water levels, it's ideal even for children and non-swimmers.
Besides brilliantly coloured fishes, you may even come across sea turtles and baby blacktip sharks while you navigate the turquoise waters - but do be sure to be extra careful when you snorkel amongst the beautiful coral reefs so you don't accidentally damage them! Discover the best snorkeling spots by booking a private boat snorkelling trip on Klook.
2. Scuba diving
If you're a diver, make sure to allocate enough time during your visit to explore some of the 20 dive sites on the island, such as the popular Tanjung Tokong and Tanjung Lang. Since Redang is located within a protected marine park, the waters here thrive with amazing underwater action and marine diversity.
Don't have a diving license? You can book a Try Scuba Diving Experience (perfect for beginners!) that will give you a taste of what it feels like to dive - you'll be guided by a certified professional instructor that will coach and guide you throughout your scuba diving trial.
3. Take your pick of water or beach activity
Besides snorkelling and diving, there are plenty of other beach and water activities available on Pulau Redang, from kayaking to beach volleyball, banana boat, stand-up paddling, and more. You can even experience turtle watching at the Pasir Chagar Hutang Turtle Sanctuary, a sea turtle conservation and research center dedicated to these gentle, endangered creatures.
4. Pamper yourself at the spa
Relax and recharge after a full day out in the sun! Many of the resorts on Pulau Redang offer luxurious spa packages with a wide variety of quality treatment options, from full-body massages to facials, reflexology, and more. If you're open to splurging a little, we'd highly recommend a pampering spa sesh at The Taaras Beach & Spa Resort.
5. Catch a beautiful sunset or sunrise
Travelling to Pulau Redang with your significant other? Have a romantic time by strolling along the sandy shores hand-in-hand as the sun sets over the horizon. If you're a morning person, you can also catch a breathtaking sunrise before beginning your day of adventures.
6. Go on a trekking or hiking excursion
If you think Pulau Redang is just about water activities, think again! Pack a pair of sturdy shoes if you'd like to get a good sweat during your trip - here are many trekking paths scattered across the island, plenty of which offer sweeping views of the surroundings as well as opportunities to come across a wide variety of wildlife such as colourful birds, cheeky monkeys, rare plants, and more.
7. Experience the nightlife on Pulau Redang
Pulau Redang may not have a very 'happening' nightlife, but this little island does have a handful of fun bars where you can hang out at after a long day. Many of these bars are located along the beach and provide relaxing vibes, good music, nice drinks, and snacks. Some of our favourites include Luna Bar, The Bubbles Bar & Bistro, and Bayu Bar!
