"When Colonial Charm Meets Contemporary Chic"
Looking for a different and special stay in Penang? We've got just the place for you! Imagine spending a night in a beautifully-restored colonial mansion set in the heart of George Town - The Edison Georgetown is a gem you'll fall in love with once you set eyes on its majestic exterior.
An architectural gem built in 1906 as a residence for a tycoon in Penang, The Edison Georgetown was designed by popular architect David Nathaniel and has behind it a long, interesting history. The building was used as an administrative centre during the Japanese Occupation of Penang, and was only transformed into a hotel after the Second World War.
With beautiful open spaces, cool white walls, vibrant jade accents, and amazing use of materials like timber, metal, tile, and glass - The Edison went through a comprehensive transformation and restoration back in late 2014, but still retains much of the building's historical character. It exudes timeless charm and elegance that you just simply can't find in modern establishments.
The Rooms
There are 35 rooms at The Edison Georgetown, spread across 2 floors. The spacious rooms come with large beds, soft pillows, and floors with beautiful tiling. Trust us when we say these rooms scream #roomgoals! Room amenities include the usual like wifi, a desk for you to work or read at, free bottled water, shade curtains, bathrobes, hairdryer, and a TV.

Our Favourite Spaces In The Hotel
The Edison Georgetown is an architectural gem with a beautiful exterior and interior, but we'd like to share some of our favourite spots within the hotel that you shouldn't miss if you decide to spend a night here!
The Edison Lounge
The hotel's lounge is definitely one of the cutest spaces in the building. With a choice of indoor and outdoor seating, you can opt to chill at one of the tables in the elegant indoor seating area or at the outdoor section with shade and fans.
The Lounge is also generously stocked with complimentary snacks available all the long, from cookies to candies, chips, coffee, tea, soft drinks, cereal, fruit, and instant noodles. You can even get your favourite childhood snacks like Twisties and Super Ring here. *wink*
The Edison Pool
The pool at the hotel isn't fancy but it's still a nice space to chill at (it's also rarely crowded so you might be able to have the whole place to yourself!). Sunbathe here in the morning or stargaze at night - the pool is perfect whether for a leisure dip or if you're looking to burn off some calories after all that char kuey teow.
The Courtyard
The Courtyard is a bright, airy space located in the middle of the main building. Laze on comfy sofas while admiring the cast-iron columns and decorative frescos that showcase the history of the building. Make sure you snap an OOTD shot at this pretty space!
