This is a small aquarium. It is on the coast and easy to find. The washroom is very clear. You will need to spend an hour for the visit.

A must experience in San Francisco I enjoyed a lot! Just present your mobile voucher to any personnel of Red and White SFO Bay Cruises at the pier 43 1/2. Be there 15 mins before the scheduled time. It is 1-1.5 hour of self guided tour :) you may choose your prefered audio guide. The tour will commence from pier - Golden Gate Bridge - passby Alcatraz and back to pier 41 1/2. It was very educational tour highlighting the beautiful SFO. For future travelers, I highly recommend to include this tour in your itinerary but this will depend on your budget. Nonetheless, I enjoy the Golden Gate Bay Cruise in SFO and I hope, soon you too!

Dragon Gate

Step into the vibrant world of San Francisco's Chinatown through the iconic Dragon Gate. This grand entrance, adorned with intricate dragons and traditional Chinese architecture, serves as a welcoming symbol of the neighborhood's rich cultural heritage. Located at the intersection of Grant Avenue and Bush Street, the Dragon Gate is not just a popular photo spot but a gateway to the bustling streets filled with history, culture, and the promise of adventure. As you pass under the gate, look for the lion and lioness statues, fish, and dragons that adorn its top, a gift from Taiwan that has stood since 1970.

Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory

Embark on a delightful journey at the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Factory, nestled in the heart of Ross Alley. This unique attraction offers a behind-the-scenes look at the fascinating process of hand-making fortune cookies. As the only remaining fortune cookie factory in San Francisco, it provides a rare opportunity to witness tradition in action. Visitors can enjoy free samples of warm, freshly made cookies and even create their own personalized messages. It's a sweet stop that promises to add a touch of fortune to your day!

Portsmouth Square

Discover the lively heart of Chinatown at Portsmouth Square, a historic park that pulses with the rhythm of daily life. Often referred to as the 'Heart of Chinatown,' this bustling square is a popular gathering spot where locals engage in tai chi, play Chinese chess, and socialize. Steeped in history, Portsmouth Square is where the first American flag was raised in San Francisco, making it a site of both cultural and historical significance. Whether you're looking to relax, people-watch, or soak in the local culture, Portsmouth Square offers a vibrant slice of community life.

Culture and History

Chinatown San Francisco is a treasure trove of history and culture, having been a pivotal part of the city since the early 1850s. As you wander through its bustling streets, you'll feel the echoes of significant events like the 1862 Anti-Coolie Tax and the 1882 Chinese Exclusion Act, which have shaped the community's resilient spirit. This neighborhood has been a sanctuary for Chinese immigrants, preserving their customs, languages, and traditions amidst challenges like the California Gold Rush and the construction of the first transcontinental railroad. Despite facing organized bigotry, discriminatory laws, and even the devastation of the 1906 earthquake, Chinatown remains a vibrant cultural hub, celebrated for its annual Chinese New Year festivities and historical landmarks that tell the story of the Chinese-American experience.
