Witnessing what happened on ground level is pure terror. Some so-called "leaders" are happy to indulge again and as usual, the common people are beached.. Humans never learn. Don't forget to enjoy what we've got and on that note visit the Simose Art Museum which has won the 2024 Prix Versailles award as the world's most beautiful museum.

We were able to use this pass from Kansai Airport to Osaka Station. Osaka to Himeji Station. Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima Station including the Hiroshima Sightseeing Bus that takes you to key sights like the Atomic Bomb Dome and the Peace Memorial Park. Shin-Osaka to Hiroshima to Miyajima Island including the train from Miyamaguchi Station and JR Ferry to Miyajima Island. You can even use it back to Kansai Airport if your departure date falls within the 5 day validity period. Highly recommended pass! Will save you a lot of money! Cheaper than a RT Shinkansen trip to Hiroshima.

A-Bomb Dome

Witness the resilience of Hiroshima at the A-Bomb Dome, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that stands as a testament to the city's enduring spirit. Once the Prefectural Industrial Promotion Hall, this skeletal structure survived the atomic blast and now serves as a poignant symbol of the horrors of nuclear warfare. As you stand before this iconic landmark, you'll be reminded of the strength and hope that emerged from the ashes, making it a must-see for anyone visiting Hiroshima.

Children's Peace Monument

Discover a beacon of hope and remembrance at the Children's Peace Monument, dedicated to the young lives lost in the atomic bombing. Inspired by the touching story of Sadako Sasaki and her thousand paper cranes, this monument features a statue of a girl holding a paper crane, symbolizing the wish for a peaceful, nuclear-free world. Surrounded by thousands of colorful cranes sent from around the globe, this site is a moving tribute to the power of hope and the innocence of childhood.

Culture and History

Before the atomic bomb, the area now known as Peace Memorial Park was the bustling political and commercial heart of Hiroshima. The transformation of this area into a park dedicated to peace was decided four years after the bombing, ensuring that the memory of the tragic event and its victims would be preserved for future generations.

Local Cuisine

While visiting Hiroshima, be sure to indulge in local delicacies such as okonomiyaki, a savory pancake filled with various ingredients, and Hiroshima-style oysters, known for their rich flavor. Additionally, try Hiroshima-style Tsukemen, a cold noodle dish served with a spicy dipping sauce. These dishes offer a delightful taste of the region's unique culinary heritage.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park stands as a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and serves as a powerful reminder of the catastrophic consequences of nuclear warfare. The park's various monuments and memorials honor the victims and advocate for world peace. It is not just a place of remembrance but also a cultural landmark that highlights the resilience and spirit of the people of Hiroshima.

Annual Peace Memorial Ceremony

Held every year on August 6, this ceremony commemorates the victims of the atomic bomb and includes a moment of silence at 8:15 AM, the exact time of the explosion. The event draws numerous visitors, including families of the deceased and peace advocates, making it a poignant occasion for reflection and remembrance.

Lantern Floating Ceremony

In the evening of August 6, lanterns with peace messages are floated on the Motoyasu River, creating a beautiful and poignant tribute to the victims and a call for peace. This serene ceremony is a moving experience that captures the hope for a peaceful future.
