Things to do in Itsukushima

Our guide mitsui was perfect with exceptional English and knowledge of the history and culture of Hiroshima as she is from the city. I don’t think our trip to Japan without this trip. It did a great job of blending the sobering reality of atomic warfare and history with the beauty of the region and its restoration.

fantastic one day tour of Hiroshima and mijiama island. we travelled from Kyoto for this tour and the meet up outside the Shinkansen gates at 10am was very convenient

I am giving all the ratings 5 stars all because of the lady tour guide. She was very professional, and most importantly, she’s very informative. I like the part when she introduced Japanese music on our way back to Hiroshima Station- very relaxing! I hope she can be our tour guide when we visit again! Itinerary - in reality just 4/5. please inform participants that they will have a very long walk in Miyajima.

Our tour guide, Masako, extensively gave us information about the Hiroshima bombing -- what happened in the aftermath and how the surviving Japanese in the area faced the effects of the bombimg and how they coped with recovery. We had a taste of local food, Okonomiyaki, a food that became staple to most of the survivors and eventually became a source of living. It was fulfilling to have seen the well-touted floating torii gate from Miyajima Island, a UNESCO heritage site. First time for me to drink probiotic lemon soda. The tour covered history, knowledge of local conditions and food interests.

Great Japanese Tea Ceremony experience. Very friendly, helpful and welcoming staff. Google and Apple Maps are not accurate on location - please be aware (you may be directed up the steep hill behind the temple/teahouse).
