The distance is about an hour. Choose where you want to get off, and then you can take your time in Jozankei. Highly recommended for travelers who want to take a bath.

The local bus accepted the physical ticket but it was too long with many stops. I recommend to try getting on the Kappa Liner even if you have forgotten to book in advance. The driver on the way back was nice that he let us ride on the way back to Sapporo. As for the outdoor hot spring, the scenery was very picturesque that made me want to go back in winter so that will elevate the whole onsen experience. There was a curry restaurant where we have had our lunch, the spiciness level is non existent. I thought that since this was not Japanese curry, then the chicken marsala we ordered would be very spicy but it was not.

After soaking in the hot springs at Toyohei Gorge (bring your own towel or rent it locally, the open-air view is great), there is a bus stop diagonally opposite the entrance.
