OK, so with the world in various states of lockdown, it kinda feels like we’re in a new (and slightly underwhelming) series of Stranger Things, and we’re really not impressed with it.
🏡 WFH has lost its snack-laden, commute-free charm.
☀️ The weather’s gone from 'February' to ‘actually pretty nice’ so being stuck indoors kinda sucks.
🗺 And the fact no-one can make any real holiday plans is sending pretty much everyone into a state of itchy-feet delirium!
And we know that when the world gives you lemons (a global pandemic that sends everyone into a state of international lockdown), you make lemonade (find ever-more creative ways to keep yourself entertained)!
But how better to keep yourself entertained than by choosing to #TravelFromHome with a trip to one of the world’s cultural capitals? I mean, just because we can't go out, doesn’t mean that we can’t still explore, right?
Bienvenue à Paris
Affectionately known as the City of Lights (one glimpse of the Eiffel Tower after sunset and you’ll know why), Paris is the cultural capital of the world. With 130 museums, 75 galleries and too many restaurants, cafes and charming bars to count, there’s a never-ending feast of memories waiting to be made!
Fall in love with a book
‘A Moveable Feast’ by Ernest Hemingway (so-called because the magic of Paris stays with you long after you've left, and you're drawing inspiration from its city streets and scenes wherever you go...)
City of Lights, camera...action!
If you want to soak up that famous Parisian atmosphere, you can always travel there through the silver screen and let some of the greatest story tellers of our time walk you through the city's avenues and picture-perfect side streets...
Tune in, and zone out
- Edith Piaf’s ‘Sous le ciel de Paris’
- Joe Dassin’s ‘Champs Elysées’
- Josephine Baker’s ‘J’ai Deux Amours’
Enjoy a taste of Paris
Enjoy a Parisian classic, with a plateful (about 15) of very thin pancakes crêpes! This is super simple and speedy to make, all you need to do is…
Cooking ingredients:
- 300g of flour
- 3 eggs
- 2 big spoons of oil
- 80cl of milk
- For a little something extra, you can add a dash (5cl) of rum!
Cooking instructions:
- Put the flour in a bowl and make a little volcano
- Add the oil, the rhum and the eggs to the flour and mix everything together
- Slowly add the milk while turning, to make a light, liquid-y mix
- Let the mixture rest for 30min
- Warm a pan on a low-medium heat and use the oil to lightly grease the pan.
- Slowly pour one portion of the mixture into the pan and turn the pan to spread the mixture into that classic crêpes shape!
- Once the crêpe is golden, it’s time to choose your fillings; make it savoury with egg, ham and cheese, or sweet with Nutella or honey & lemon - whatever you choose, crêpes really are the best!
And there you have it - the perfect Parisian experience, all from the comfort of your own home ❤️
