We’re still super excited that we can finally make the most of all the fun at Chessington World of Adventures now that it’s reopened. Plus, BIG NEWS 🚨; while Chessington usually closes November-March, for the first time ever the park is staying open Friday-Monday throughout November and Saturday-Sunday in December, so there’s even more time this year to explore your favourite rides, or to discover new favourites if you haven’t been before! 🎢
With over 40 attractions at the park there’s plenty to do come rain or shine, and in typical British fashion you’ll definitely still find us there even when the weather isn’t so great - are we weird for thinking there’s an added thrill in feeling the rain hit your face as you rush over the tracks?! You can always pretend it’s another water ride if not… 🌊
If you want to book your tickets straight away then just click below, and check out our option for private transfers there & back for a safe, hassle-free day out!
Whether you’re spending a day at the park or just sat at home writing about it (yay for me…) there’s a lot to cover, so let’s speed straight into their top rides! 😄
The Rush
Adrenaline rush incoming!
Vampire
Just like a bat out of hell, this family-friendly rollercoaster gets you soaring through the skies and flying over the treetops with your legs dangling below you. It’s fang-tastic and once bitten, you’ll want to fly again and again.
FUN FACT: The organist’s face was based on an old Phil Collins wax figure. The designer, John Wardley, has also worked on other rides such as Nemesis at Alton Towers. Pro tip: listen to the drum solo in Phil’s “In The Air Tonight” before getting on the ride for an added sense of drama!
KOBRA
Rising from the ruins of Wild Asia, the untamed KOBRA takes you on a thrilling ride, spinning through the air as you travel backwards and forwards on a 90 metre track at an awesome 43mph. Adventurers beware, this is a ride with some sssssserioussssss bite.
FUN FACT: You can see the tigers from this ride!
Dragon’s Fury
You don’t need to be Khaleesi to ride this dragon, but be warned, this is one fiery beasand you’re certainly in for a roller coaster ride to remember as you fly through dizzying twists and turns, dips and dives and all the while your car is spinning and spinning.
FUN FACT: Dragon's Fury also has a sister roller coaster at Alton Towers called Spinball Whizzer, the name doesn’t sound quite so dramatic to us, but that one is definitely good fun too!
Monkey Swinger
Whatever your age, bring out your inner cheeky monkey on this fun ride that will have you swinging through the air, soaring round and round, getting higher and higher. Choose your seat carefully… you could get very soggy!
FUN FACT: Monkey Swinger originally opened in 2000 under the name Billy's Whizzer as part of Beano Land.
Rattlesnake
This is a right rattling rollercoaster ride and you’ll be in hiss-sterics as you snake your way through the sharp turns, inclines and sudden dips of the old Mexican tin mine.
Scorpion Express
Scorpion Express is a fun ride for all the family found in Mexicana, and brave young adventurers can experience their first roller coaster thrill. Watch out for surprises at every turn including fire and water effects, as with unstable mines guarded by the giant Scorpion anything could happen – try not to get too close!
FUN FACT: It was originally known as the Runaway Mine Train, which joined the Resort in its first official year of opening as a Theme Park, in 1987
The Wet
Don’t forget your towels!
Tiger Rock
Tiger Rock is an exhilarating log flume, where the whole family gets yet another unique view of the resident tigers as they journey alongside their innovative enclosure. Then, descend a misty waterfall drop, the ride’s finale, right through the centre of a giant tiger’s head carved into the imposing rock - perfect for an epic group photo!
FUN FACT: Tiger Rock is part of Land of the Tiger, which is also home to four Amur tigers who came from Kolmarden, a Zoo and Theme Park in Sweden. Check out our article about Animal Welfare and Conservation at Chessington if you want to learn more!
River Rafts
Make a splash on this mini-log flume, River Rafts – but watch out for the cheeky chimps that live along the waterway!
The Fun
Fun for all the family!
Tomb Blaster
Adventurers are on a mission to battle the Curse of the Mummy. Ride through the Ancient Egyptian labyrinth armed with a laser gun to shoot mummies and scarab beetles and rid the tomb of its evil curse. Can you save the day and beat your family and friends’ high scores?
FUN FACT: Tomb Blaster originally opened in 1987 and was known as the 5th Dimension until 1993 when it was given a re-theme to Terror Tomb. In 2001, Terror Tomb shut the sarcophagus, and Tomb Blaster opened for the 2002 season and has been wowing visitors since!
Gruffalo River Ride Adventure
Join your favourite Gruffalo character, Mouse, on a magical riverboat journey through the deep dark wood. As you float down the lazy river, the world of The Gruffalo will magically unfold in front of your eyes, with exciting twists and turns along the way!
Sea Dragons
Enter Land of the Dragons and get to ride on friendly Sea Dragons with your little adventurers.
Jungle Rangers
Start your journey in the Rainforest by taking the wheel on Jungle Rangers, a car ride where the kids are in control. Young explorers will navigate their vehicle along the bumpy trail road and through the undergrowth, spotting the colourful creatures living on the forest floor.
Seastorm
Beware adventurers, there’s a gale warning in Pirates Cove. So get the family all aboard Seastorm and ride it out, twisting and turning over the ‘waves’ in your miniature pirate galleon.
FUN FACT: Seastorm has 20 boats, all of which are named after different boats that have actually sailed out at sea.
Griffin’s Galleon
In Land of the Dragons you’ll find Griffin’s Galleon where you can join the fun-loving crew on board Griffin’s Galleon and ride the waves back and forth with an unexpected turn at each end.
Treetop Hoppers
Found in the rainforest, this ‘frog hopper’ type ride will see you jump right up above the trees, but remember that what goes up must come down!
We can’t write about all these rides without wanting to book tickets to go on them all ourselves, so we’re sure you’re feeling the same!!
