Disney World may be the happiest place on earth, but even that Mickey magic can’t always keep the rain at bay. Don’t let a little bit of rain dampen your Disney spirit, here are our top tips to help you make the most of your precious park time.
Get those ponchos at the ready
If there is one place on this planet where ponchos are cool, it’s Disney World. Be prepared and bring a poncho with you (you’ll save on over-priced park ponchos when you’re inside) - they are light, quick drying and are easy to pop back in your bag when that Florida sunshine comes out to play.
If you can’t beat it, embrace it
There’s one place in Disney where being wet is all part of the fun and that’s a Disney Water Park - you won’t even notice the rain as you fly face first down the flumes. And do you know the best part? Most people associate the likes of Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach with a sunny day, so you’ll waste less time queuing and more time having fun. Who wants to sunbathe anyway when there’s a wave machine to take on.
Do your park research
This may sound like an obvious one, but when the rain comes you don’t have to set up camp in your hotel room. Did you know there are a number of parks that are better suited to a day where rain is inevitable? Take the Magic Kingdom for example, there are over 30 indoor rides for you to choose from including out-of-this-world Space Mountain. And for those willing to brave the rain, the park even puts on a special ‘rainy day’ parade - ain’t that nice?
Resort hop on the monorail
Have you even been to Disney World if you don’t take a ride on the monorail during your stay? Perfect for getting from one resort to the next, we couldn’t recommend resort hopping via the monorail enough. If you do some research before you jump aboard, you’ll find some of the larger resorts have some great rainy day activities. Resorts like ‘Art of Animation Resort’, ‘Animal Kingdom Lodge’ and ‘Wilderness Lodge’ all have fun activities for the whole family to enjoy such as art classes, arcades and Mickey Mouse hunts.
Embrace the wonderful world of lockers
One last tip and it’s a goody 🤓 For those that like to plan for every eventuality, including rain, hiring a locker will no doubt be your saving grace. If rain is on the agenda, pack some spare clothes and store them in a locker. Lockers start at around $10 a day depending on how much stuff you have with you, but can you really put a price on having dry clothes? And remember, a rainy day in Disney World, is still a day in Disney World 🤩
