So you’re going to the tower of London huh? Totally not jealous at all …. It’s only like London’s most historic building! When are you going in the morning? Lunchtime? To see it lit up at night? Actually, don’t answer those, because as we said we’re not jealous at all….
Ok, that’s a lie. We’re SO jealous. I mean who wouldn’t be?? It’s nearly 1,000 years old, has survived pretty much every war ever, and it’s probably the most impenetrable fortress in the whole of the UK! And, it’s home to some very special ravens too - they’re basically in charge of the British kingdom!
Want to know how we know that? Because it’s where Britain’s most valuable assets are kept. No not James Bond, but the crown jewels! That’s right, over £20 billion pounds worth of diamonds are entrusted within the walls of the Tower Of London, the very place that you’re headed. So yeah we’re just a bit jealous.
Walking around the Tower of London is hungry work though, so you’re going to want to plan out a battle strategy to fight off the mid-tour hunger.
To help you out, we’ve put together our list of the 10 best restaurants around the Tower of London. Serving everything from boozy brunches to dinner with a view. Breakfast x 2
- Budget - The Watch House at Tower Bridge
- Spenny - White Mulberries
If you’re like us, you can’t start your day without a cup of coffee and a bite to eat. For those of you in a bit of a rush to get to the Tower of London, make sure to pay a visit to The Watch House at Tower Bridge. This traditional cafe serves great priced coffees with an amazing selection of pastries, sandwiches, and savouries that will see you through a busy morning!
For those of you with a bit more time on your hands, we recommend White Mulberries. Located in one of London’s best hidden gems, St Katherine’s Docks, this cute little cafe is arguably one of the most picturesque in the city! Not only is it so instagramable, but the food is incredible - we really recommend their signature Banana Bread that looks and tastes like a piece of art!
Brunch x 2
- Budget - Breakfast Club, London Bridge
- Spenny - The Ivy, London Bridge
Take a short walk across London Bridge and you’ll find yourself on Southbank, the brunch hot-spot of London. Not only do you have plenty of brunch spots to choose from while you’re here, but in most places you’ll also have an incredible view of the Tower of London itself. For panoramic view-hunters, get down to The Ivy, London Bridge. This chain of British brasseries are a must-visit for those spending time in London. Their weekend brunch menu is packed with all the British classics, from Bloody Marys to buttermilk pancakes.
For those still reeling over the fact they missed breakfast, get yourself over to the Breakfast Club, London Bridge. With a vibrant pink interior, this is the perfect spot for anyone who enjoys taking photos of their brunch as much as they enjoy eating it. We recommend the pancakes; they're the classic fluffy American ones stacked with choices of sweet and savoury toppings. Make sure to call ahead here, otherwise you might find yourself having to queue, which only means less time at the Tower of London itself.
Lunch x 2
- Budget - Emilia’s Crafted Pasta
- Spenny - Bravas Tapas
Lunch is all about St Katherine’s Dock. Built in the 12th century, and famed for being one of London’s first commercial docks, this small port is now a thriving hub of culture and cuisine from all over the world, and is only a 3-minute walk from the Tower of London itself. For those looking for a hassle-free bite to eat, and one that the whole family is guaranteed to enjoy, get down to Emilia’s Crafted Pasta. This cute Italian restaurant serves handmade pasta of every type and has an amazing express lunch menu, which for just £10 gets you a delicious plate of pasta and a tasty side as well! For those who like to share their lunch with their loved ones, Bravas Tapas is the place for you. This typical Spanish ‘taperia’ serves incredibly inventive small plates that look like tiny pieces of modern art, and clearly belong in the Tate Modern.
While Bravas Tapas has an amazing selection of meat dishes, their vegetarian and seafood menus steal the show here. Our personal recommendations are the Spinach Croquetas and the Half Shell Oysters; you’ll forget you’re even in a London restaurant after your first bite.
Dinner x 2
- Budget - Ping Pong, St Katherine’s Dock
- Spenny - Coppa Club
So you’ve had a big day out at the Tower of London. You’ve probably racked up more steps on the old Fitbit than you have in weeks. Therefore it’s only right that you enjoy a big dinner to immediately put back on all those calories you’ve just burned off. Plus, you saved money booking with Klook, so why not go big before you go home!
For big groups of families and friends, we recommend Ping Pong, St Katherine’s Docks. Serving quality Chinese dim sum, this waterfront restaurant has so many incredible options to choose from. With set menus, vegan menus, gluten free menus and over 20 different types of dumpling, you're ‘bao-nd’ to find something for everyone (see what we did there?). Speaking of bao buns, we recommend the chicken katsu one!
For smaller groups looking for a more high-end waterfront dining experience, it has to be Coppa Club. Famed for its year-round cosy igloos, this is hands down one of London’s most instagrammable restaurants! With panoramic views across the Thames, this is the perfect place to watch the sunset over London, and that's without even mentioning the drinks and top-quality British cuisine. Make sure to call way ahead as the igloos tend to sell out quicker than Michael Bublé’s Christmas CD! If you are lucky enough to secure a seat here, Coppa Club is definitely the perfect way to end an unforgettable day out in London.
