The tour guide had notified us on WhatsApp the night before and arranged the itinerary that day based on traffic and introduced each scenic spot in detail. However, the weather was bad that day and the photography was poor, but the overall arrangement was good.

We had a very pleasant trip thanks to our tour guide Sawaki, who was extremely organized, polite and friendly! Thank you so much! The itinerary was reshuffled based on the weather to ensure we would get to see Mount Fuji clearly, which we appreciated a lot. Today's tour guide was very friendly and professional, and arranged the itinerary very well. He rearranged the itinerary to ensure we could see Mount Fuji. Very satisfied with today’s trip! Thanks!

It happened to be the Autumn Leaf Festival, and the Maple Leaf Corridor was really beautiful. Unfortunately, it was cloudy and rainy that day, so we couldn’t see Mount Fuji. The tour guide Chris was responsible and attentive. We look forward to visiting again next time👍👍👍🍁

Must-Visit Attractions in Chureito Pagoda

1. Chureito Pagoda

The Chureito Pagoda, or Fujiyoshida Cenotaph Monument, is a five-story shrine established in 1963 to commemorate peace. Positioned on top of a mountainside, this pagoda presents a captivating view of Fuji Yoshida City and a glimpse of Mount Fuji in the backdrop. To reach the mesmerizing panorama, you can ascend 400 steps to the summit.

2. Arakura Sengen Shrine

Located just a 10-minute walk from Shimo-Yoshida Station, the Arakura Sengen Shrine is a historic site that complements the beauty of the Chureito Pagoda. You can explore the shrine's main buildings and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this cultural landmark.

3. Arakurayama Sengen Park

Arakurayama Sengen Park is a prime spot for 'Hanami', the traditional flower viewing in Japan, usually associated with cherry blossoms. But you can also enjoy this practice during the plum blossom season in February, the colorful 'koyo' season in autumn, or any time flowers bloom. While Chureito Pagoda is famous for cherry blossoms, it's just as stunning in autumn when leaves change to brilliant hues of gold, orange, and yellow, providing a whole new charm to the landscape.

4. Lake Kawaguchiko

Lake Kawaguchiko is often considered the top choice among the lakes for international visitors due to its accessibility and abundance of attractions. Located in a hot spring resort town at the foot of Mount Fuji, Kawaguchiko is an excellent starting point for discovering the surrounding area.

5. Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park

Chureito Pagoda and Mt. Fuji are located in the scenic Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, spread across 474 square miles. This park includes Mt. Fuji, Fuji Five Lakes Region, Hakone, the Izu Peninsula, and the Izu Islands, with activities like hot spring relaxation, hiking, lake fun, and island exploration. Known for its beauty, it is one of Japan's most popular national parks among over 30 stunning parks nationwide, from Hokkaido's snowy terrain to Okinawa's tropical shores.

Tips for your Chureito Pagoda visit

When is the best time to visit Chureito Pagoda?

To capture the best views, visit Chureito Pagoda at sunset for a stunning sky painted in orange and pink hues complemented by blooming cherry blossoms. This spot gives you majestic vistas of Mount Fuji, especially during mid-April for cherry blossoms and early November for autumn colors, making it a popular spot for photographers seeking classic Japanese scenes.

How to get to Chureito Pagoda?

Reach Chureito Pagoda by using your Japan Rail Pass to take a train to Shimoyoshida Station and then a short walk to the shrine. Alternatively, taxis and buses are available for convenience.

How to get to Chureito Pagoda from Tokyo?
