The tour guide Helen leads carefully and the itinerary is substantial. The only drawback is that there is no time for meals, but you can buy food to eat on the bus.

The itinerary was very reasonable, and the tour guide, Miss Liu Coco, was very kind. Today we went to the place where the gods lived, and heard a lot of legends and stories. There were mountains, water, and stones, which was very satisfying. In fact, the scenery on the road was also very beautiful.

Ada is very enthusiastic and actively helps when needed. She speaks three languages (Chinese, English, and Japanese in turn), which is amazing. The driver drove very steadily, was very enthusiastic and polite. The itinerary was a bit tight, but the time given was enough to explore, and the one-day tour was not tiring. I was lucky to climb the Aso Mountain Observation Deck, which was generally good.

The meeting place is clear and can be found quickly. The tour guide was very nice and led attentively. Although he had to switch between Chinese and English, he controlled the rhythm very well. In addition to the itinerary, the tour guide will also provide travel tips. Highly recommend this trip.

I really enjoyed this tour. Our Guide Helen was amazing and provided plenty of background information on all of the locations we visited. She also gave us clear & helpful instructions on where and when to meet after each location. The tour itself provided plenty of time at each location to see and do stuff. Would happliy recomend this tour to any of my friends visiting Fukuoka who want to see things outside of the city.

Tips for Your Mount Aso Visit

When is the best time to visit Mount Aso?

The ideal times to explore Mount Aso are during the spring (April to June) and autumn (September to November). During these seasons, the weather is pleasant, and the scenery is breathtaking, especially with the vibrant autumn foliage in November.

Please be aware that the crater area may be partially or fully restricted to visitors at times due to hazardous volcanic gases, inclement weather, or the potential for volcanic activity. It's best to confirm the volcano's status before your visit. Even if the summit surroundings are accessible, be cautious as the gases can be strong, especially for those with respiratory issues who should avoid getting too close to the crater.

How to get to Mount Aso?

Mount Aso is accessible by local train and bus from major cities in Kyushu. The nearest airport is Kumamoto Airport, from where you can take a bus or rent a car to reach the mountain. Additionally, a shuttle bus runs from the Mount Aso terminal to the crater's edge.

Can you drive up Mount Aso?

To catch a glimpse of the magnificent crater, you have several options, such as driving up Mount Aso parkway (a toll road), taking a bus, or going on a hike. However, make sure to verify any entry limitations related to volcanic gas.
