Smooth ride back to Hong Kong Kowloon Station using the HSR. Make sure you go at least 1.5 hours earlier for customs check for both China and HK plus bag checks. Recommend to bring your own food for the ride.

A very smooth experience from HK to Guangzhou. Head to Kowloon Station then walk about 10 min through a mall to Kowloon West Station. Go through 3 rounds of checking / customs from HK and China. The whole process took about an hour so make sure to be at the station about 1.5 hours before departure time to be safe. There are eateries before customs check but once you go pass customs check, there’s no more food so either eat beforehand of bring your own food. Worst case they do serve food and drinks on the train at a price. First class was very comfortable. Seats were 2-2 and we could access the first class lounge while waiting for the train. Would recommend paying extra if you can for the first class seats.

Easy and fuss free train service. The clearance from Guangzhou East station for Singaporeans only took us 5min so don’t need to be down so early (unlike the 1.5h stated on Klook). You are only allowed to board the train 15 min before departure time, so we waited at least 1h+ at the station.

Guangzhou station is a big area so buffer enough time for security and ticketing, as foreign passports can’t be read at the machines so the staff will have to manually check your ID. also it seems that the gates to the platform don’t open until 15mins till departure resulting in a mad rush.

The station was huge and plenty of eatery. 2 bottles of my hair spray was confiscated because it exceed their train requirement of no more than 150ml. So ladies and gentlemen take note of this changes. The train parked quite far away. Advise to get into the train waiting area slightly earlier else it will be a long running like us. And the train leaving on time. Good experience as always for China high speed rail.

Easy transfer from Futian Metro Station to Futian HSR Station, just follow the sign. The problem we face is that we bought 4 tickets and I’m the lead traveller, I was able to pass thru the HSR gate with no problems but my family members all have problem entering the gate even though we booked under 1 booking reference no. Not sure what what wrong, but staff at the station help us. So all is well and we get to board the train to HK. Please allow more time and go to the train station early.

It is very convenient to book the HSR ticket from Hong Kong to Shen Zhen without collecting physical ticket. As my passport has some issue passing the automatic gate, just go through the manned counter and they will help to verify it. Do reach kowloon station at least 2 hours earlier to go through HK and China custom, document checks and bag checks. The train journey took 14 mins. Process was smooth and booking was easy. 👍👍
