Taiwan Welcomes Tourists Back with the Visa-Free Travel Program banner

Hooray, Taiwan’s reopened — get a headstart on your vacation planning with our handy guide on the latest travel requirements!

If you still can’t pick where you’re traveling to next, then this is ✨your sign✨ to take a trip to Taiwan! With its borders set to reopen on 29 September, you can soon visit Taiwan and experience street food crawls, go on shopping sprees at the night markets, or visit iconic attractions such as the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, Rainbow Village, Taipei Zoo, and Yehliu Geopark.

But before you start mapping out your itinerary, make sure you’re on top of the latest travel restrictions to Taiwan first!

Who can travel to Taiwan?

Anyone! As long as you follow the requirements and restrictions, you can freely enter Taiwan.

What are the entry requirements and restrictions to Taiwan?

1. A passport with a validity of at least 6 months from the date of entry.

2. A confirmed air or sea ticket.

3. For Brunei, Philippines, and Thailand passport holders: proof of accommodation booking, host or sponsor’s contact details, and proof of sufficient travel funds.

Other entry requirements and restrictions to Taiwan:

From 13 Oct 2022:

Borders will be opened for countries not included in the visa-free travel program.
0+7 scheme: you no longer have to undergo quarantine at all and you can instead self-monitor for 7 days.
You no longer need to take an RT-PCR test upon arrival at the airport. At the airport, you will receive four rapid antigen test kits and are advised to use them as follows:

Days 2-7	Take a rapid antigen test if you have any suspected COVID symptoms If you need to leave your accommodation during this period, you must test negative within 48 hours before leaving your accommodation.

The weekly arrivals cap will be raised to 150,000 from 60,000.
