Mount Aso tours

Our guide, Rikuto-san, was amazing. Not only did he seem to know a lot about everything we went to see, he also looked like he really enjoyed showing us around. He really made that tour better. The itinerary is great although I would have liked a little bit more time at the first shrine. Otherwise, everything was great and it is definitely a great way to save money. The train to all those destinations from Hakata station would have cost so much more !

This itinerary is different from other one-day itineraries. It is arranged by the Japan Kumamoto Tourism Bureau. There is no tour guide or tour bus. You have to drive to all designated places by yourself. We actually followed the time schedule of the itinerary. Personally, I think the time spent at each scenic spot was well arranged. It is a pity that the crater can only be viewed for half an hour. Some people think it is a pity, but it was actually very cold that day. Personally, I think it takes half an hour to view the crater. In fact, it’s almost the same! Next, we went to Sosenri to have lunch and enjoy the scenery. The lunch was delicious. My family members who were traveling with us liked it very much. The scenery of Sosenri was beautiful and you could even ride a horse. It is recommended that you go to the observation deck and walk on the grassland. It will take about three hours at Aso Station in the afternoon. We chose to go to Aso Shrine. We can take JR or bus for a while. The shrine is also very spectacular. After seeing it, we can also go around the nearby shopping streets. The itinerary is quite rich! There was a traffic jam on the return trip, so I arrived at Hakata Station one hour later than expected, but there was nothing I could do about it, so I won't give a negative review. As long as each ride is mentioned in the itinerary, you can show it to the driver for confirmation, which is very convenient!

On November 23, I chose this in-depth tour of Aso and spent an unforgettable day. In the morning, I climbed onto the majestic Aso Volcano. Standing on the edge of the crater, watching the smoking scene and listening to the Chinese tour guide’s detailed explanation, I deeply realized the mystery and magnificence of nature. Then, I came to Cao Qianli. I also learned from the explanation that the monks and ascetics of 37fang51an Temple guard this land, suppress the volcanic eruption with their thoughts, and pray for the blessings of all people with their bodies. Let me casually put my hands together to pay tribute to their sacrifice. In the afternoon, I visited Aso Shrine. The in-depth travel guide also arranged to enter the shrine for a prayer ceremony. You can imagine that people 2000 years ago performed the same ritual to pray for blessings! Finally, I walked into the shopping street and tasted the famous Aka beef meal and the water-based spring. These springs seep through layers of volcanic lava from Mount Aso and flow down the mountain to gush out. Unexpectedly, the water in your mouth has traveled hundreds of years to meet you here. During this trip, through the tour guide’s detailed explanation of the history, I got to know Aso again.

Excellent tour! tour guide Miao Lei (Miss Zhou) was very enthusiastic and added energy to the trip. itinerary was very good as we got to see small icy grounds at Kuasenri, volcano at Mt Aso, (dependent on conditions, we were fortunate) and use the onsen at Kurokawa. however the view at Kuasenri is obv not green in winter, so just be prepared for that, but still nice views, and got to buy some souvenirs at Kuasenri too. very reasonable price for the places included. highly recommended! tour guide also told us pre-empt us about possible delay on returning due to traffic (we only reached 30mins later than 6pm), being honest about the traffic conditions.

The tour began promptly, and our guide was incredibly helpful and accommodating. The tour itself was fantastic, with stunning scenery and perfect weather. It was undoubtedly one of my favorite trips to Kyushu. I was also pleasantly surprised with the complimentary snack at the end of the tour.

Great day trip with wonderful driver (Sakai-san), tour guide (Ōtsuka-san) and interpreter (Ushijima-san). Locations were beautiful and amazing + the journey to each location was cosy and comfortable. Highly recommend to those wanna explore Kumamoto and Miyazaki prefecture 👍🏻

Attentive Guide, Stunning Sites, and the Best Buffet Lunch Ever** We recently took a 1-day tour of Kumamoto, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish! Our itinerary included visits to Kumamoto Castle, Mt. Aso Volcano, and Kamishikimi Shrine, each offering its own unique beauty and historical significance. The day was perfectly organized, with clear information provided about pick-up times and locations, ensuring everything went smoothly. What truly made this tour special was our guide. Although we had booked a Chinese-language tour, she went above and beyond to provide us with all the information we needed in English. She was incredibly attentive and caring, always making sure we were comfortable and understood everything. Her kindness and dedication made the experience even more enjoyable. The lunch was another highlight of the day. We enjoyed a delicious buffet, which was perhaps the best I’ve ever had on any tour. The variety and quality of the food were exceptional, offering a wonderful taste of local flavors. Overall, this tour was a perfect blend of breathtaking sights, excellent organization, and warm hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore Kumamoto with a guide who truly cares about her guests!

our tour guide James is awesome! He prepared the tour nicely, leaving us enough time to explore and enjoy the scenery. The food he prepared was amazing and organized. It was an entertaining tour of areas near mount fuji. Would highly recommend James as your tour guide.
