The UK finally scraps all travel requirements starting 18 Mar! So before you start packing, keep this trusty guide close as you plan and prepare for your trip to the United Kingdom!
Travel to the UK (Inbound)
Who will be allowed to travel into the UK?
Starting 18 Mar at 04:00, all travelers can now enter the UK without a COVID-19 test or a passenger locator form regardless of their vaccination status. This also applies to people transiting through England.
What are the approved COVID-19 vaccines for entry to the UK?
Unvaccinated tourists can now enter the UK. But to be considered ‘fully vaccinated’, you must have a complete course (2 doses) of any of the following vaccines:
- Covaxin
- Moderna
- Janssen (single-dose vaccine)
- Novavax (Nuvaxovid and Covovax)
- Oxford/AstraZeneca
- Pfizer BioNTech
- Sinopharm Beijing
- Sinovac-CoronaVac
Do I need to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination?
No, but if you must present proof of vaccination it must be issued by a vaccination program. You can present the following certificates to prove your vaccination status:
- the NHS COVID Pass for England and Wales
- the COVIDCert NI for Northern Ireland
- the EU Digital COVID Certificate (EU DCC)
- the United Nations vaccine programme for staff and volunteers
Valid vaccine certificates must include your complete full name, date of birth, vaccine brand and manufacturer, date of vaccination for every dose, and country or territory of vaccination.
Do I still need to quarantine after my arrival?
No, but it's encouraged to self-monitor for any COVID-like symptoms after your arrival.
What if I test positive for COVID-19 after my arrival?
You may self-isolate in your own home, with friends or family, or in any kind of accommodation until your symptoms clear. If you did a rapid lateral flow test, you must report it within 24 hours of getting the result.
Travel within the UK and the Common Travel Area (Domestic)
Do I have to follow UK travel requirements if I’m traveling within the UK?
No, if you’re traveling domestically you’re not required to test, isolate, or fill in the passenger locator form. Travel for non-essential purposes within the UK is now allowed, so you can freely visit Wales and Scotland as long as you follow their respective travel guidelines.
What do I need to travel within the Common Travel Area?
You must follow the international travel guidelines of your destination:
