Best Things To See, Eat, And Do In Singapore
Along with the launch of the Vaccinated Travel Lane (VTL) between Singapore and Malaysia, vaccinated travellers will finally be able to travel between the two countries after close to two years of border closures.
Singapore may be small but it exudes a vibrant cosmopolitan vibe and is lots of fun to explore (and easy to get around thanks to the city's convenient public transportation system!). To help you plan your trip to the Little Red Dot, we've come up with an itinerary guide detailing some of our favourite things to eat, see, and do in Singapore. Keep reading for some trip inspiration!
The Ultimate 3D2N Singapore Travel Itinerary Guide
Day One
1. Jewel Changi Airport
Singapore's world-class airport unveiled Jewel Changi, an expansion of the already impressive Changi Airport back in 2019. If it's your first time in Singapore since the opening of Jewel Changi, this 10-storey nature-themed entertainment and retail complex is definitely worth a visit! Pop by upon arrival before heading to town and catch a glimpse of the stunning 40-meter indoor waterfall, lush indoor forests, and have lunch at one of the many restaurants here. You can even get a Jewel Changi Airport Attraction Pass on Klook for access to many fun spots at a discounted rate.
2. Check-In To Your Hotel
Done exploring all that Jewel Changi has to offer? Make your way to town and check in to your hotel before you begin your Singapore adventure. If you're looking for hotel recommendations and deals, check out hotels available on Klook at discounted rates - from 5-star luxury stays to boutique hotels and affordable guesthouses, you're bound to find a memorable stay for your trip on our list.
3. Lunch at Lau Pa Sat
Officially kickstart your Singapore trip by putting Singaporean food to the test! If you're looking for a place to enjoy some local fare, we'd recommend the spacious Lau Pa Sat located in the heart of Singapore's financial district. Besides being a popular hawker centre, Lau Pa Sat is a true Singapore landmark that was gazetted as a national monument in 1973. Dine under its distinctive octagonal roof while being surrounded by slender Victorian columns, soaring arches, and a graceful clock tower. You can get anything from fishball noodles to chicken rice, Indian cuisine, Hokkien mee, and satay here.
4. Gardens by the Bay
Singapore's Gardens by the Bay is one of our favourite attractions on the little red dot. Marvel at beautiful Supertree groves and stroll through two conservatories - the Flower Dome that's filled with dreamy blooms all-year-round (including seasonal flowers such as cherry blossoms, sunflower, and lavenders that are on display at different months throughout the year), as well as the Cloud Forest, a relaxing space that's home to one of the world's largest indoor waterfalls. You can also opt to visit here at night to catch the dazzling Garden Rhapsody light and sound show that commences every night!
5. Marina Bay Sands Skypark
Want to get a bird's eye view of Singapore's iconic skyline? The iconic Marina Bay Sands Hotel offers one of the best, unobstructed views of the city, but don't worry, you don't need to book a stay here to get a world-class view. Catch the elevator up to the Marina Bay Sands Skypark, an observation deck that floats 57 levels above the three towers of Marina Bay Sands. Our personal recommendation is to head here in the evening and watch the sun set over the horizon at dusk before the twinkling city lights come on. Get your Marina Bay Sands Skypark tickets on Klook to enjoy hassle-free admission.
6. Spectra: A Light & Water Show
If you're in Singapore for the first time, you won't want to miss out on the magic of Spectra, a free nightly outdoor light and water show displayed over the water along the Marina Bay Sands promenade. This 15-minute show commences every night and is a beautiful symphony of dancing fountain jets, visual projections, lasers, mist, and a stimulating orchestral soundtrack. Get a seat on one of the steps at the waterfront (make sure you head over earlier!) and be prepared for a stunning visual experience.
Note: Due to COVID-19, Spectra is currently suspended until further notice. Do refer to the Marina Bay Sands official website for updates on its resumption.
7. Haji Lane
End day one of your trip at Haji Lane, an indie neighbourhood that comes to life upon nightfall. Haji Lane may not be a huge area but is packed with lots of buzz and character - choose where to soak the night away from a great selection of cool boutiques, laid-back bars, cosy cafes, and hip restaurants. Whether you're looking to grab a cocktail, a hearty pizza, burgers, or softserve ice cream, Haji Lane has them all. Other popular spots such as Arab Street, Beach Road, and Bali Lane are also located right around the corner, in case you can't find what you're looking for here. Pssst, if you're a fan of graffiti, you can also visit Haji Lane in the day for a clearer view of its vibrant streets decorated with art!
Day Two: An Adrenaline-Filled Day
1. Have Breakfast At Ya Kun
Start your day two right with some good old kaya toast! Ya Kun Kaya Toast was established as a small family-run stall in 1944 and has today become a Singaporean cultural icon serving humble toast, perfectly made soft-boiled eggs, and coffee. This household brand is well-loved by most Singaporeans and definitely deserves to be added to your itinerary. It's also a lot lighter on the stomach and perfect for a fun-filled day ahead. Book your Ya Kun set voucher on Klook and enjoy hassle-free redemption at most Ya Kun outlets across the country.
2. Head To Sentosa Island
Once you're done with breakfast, it's time to make your way to Sentosa, Singapore's sunny island offering a variety of fun experiences for people of all ages. Decide how you want to spend your day by taking your pick from this non-exhaustive list of attractions located on Sentosa Island:
- Fort Siloso Skywalk
- Tanjong Beach
- Mount Faber peak
Get your Singapore Cable Car Sky Pass on Klook and enjoy 360-degree aerial views of the city as you make your way up to Sentosa. You can even opt for combo packages that come bundled with attraction tickets and dining vouchers.
3. Universal Studios Singapore
If you enjoy theme parks, you can't leave Singapore without spending a few adrenaline-filled hours at Universal Studios Singapore. Perfect no matter for an outing with friends or family, you're in for a day full of fun in Southeast Asia's first and only Universal Studios theme park featuring 24 rides, shows, and attractions spread across seven exciting themed zones. Challenge your friends to a ride on the Battlestar Galactica twin coasters, laugh at each other as you get wet and wild on the Jurassic Park flume ride, and meet-and-greet your favourite characters from Sesame Street! Enjoy an extra 15% off your Universal Studios Singapore tickets on Klook.
4. S.E.A Aquarium
If you still have some time (and energy) to spare after exploring all that Universal Studios Singapore has to offer, pop by S.E.A. Aquarium, another popular attraction housed in Resorts World Sentosa. Get up close and personal with over 100,000 marine animals such as dolphins, manta rays, sharks, jellyfish, and beautiful corals. Pssst, make sure not to miss out on the Open Ocean habitat (a humongous aquarium that's the centrepiece of S.E.A. Aquarium) and watch the fascinating ocean scenery unravel right before your eyes.
5. Dinner at Coastes in Sentosa
Wind down after hours of fun at Coastes, a beach bar and restaurant located along a golden stretch of Sentosa's Siloso Beach. This breezy beachside restaurant offers a rustic, laid-back beach vibe and is perfect for an evening refuel before you head back to town. Listen to the sound of the waves as you reminisce the fun moments earlier with your loved ones over fish and chips, seafood platters, fresh homemade pizza, sandwiches, or glasses of cold beer. Get Coastes cash vouchers of up to 14% off on Klook to save some bucks off your bill.
Day Three: An Artsy Neighbourhood Exploration
1. Tiong Bahru
Start your day bright and early at Tiong Bahru, a charming neighbourhood that will take you down the passage of time. Tiong Bahru is now one of Singapore's rare residential areas where classic heritage and contemporary architecture co-exist in perfect harmony. You can opt to have breakfast at the iconic Tiong Bahru Food Centre (sample local breakfast items such as jian bo shui kueh, Tiong Bahru fish balls, lor mee, and carrot cake!) or the Tiong Bahru Bakery, a hipster bakery coined for serving the best croissants in Singapore. Once you're well-fed, walk off those calories by strolling around the neighbourhood dotted with murals, quaint shops, and unique art galleries.
2. Joo Chiat
Next up on our neighbourhood-hopping list is Joo Chiat, another hidden gem and one of the first heritage towns in Singapore. From traditional heritage shophouses to hipster bars and shops, Joo Chiat is filled with gems waiting to be uncovered. While you're there, make sure to head over for some shots at Koon Seng Road, a street lined with colourful, pre-war Peranakan shophouses built in the 1920s. If you're still feeling hungry, pop by 328 Katong Laksa for a bowl of Gordon Ramsay-approved laksa paired with a side of otak-otak. Lastly, stop by Birds of Paradise for refreshing gelato served in waffle cones handmade on the spot.
3. ArtScience Museum
Continue your artsy adventure at the ArtScience Museum, an iconic cultural landmark in Singapore. With 21 gallery spaces where you can explore a world of art, science, culture, and technology, you're in for an immersive, fascinating, and educational experience the moment you step in. For those who wish to take perfect shots for the 'gram, make sure you don't miss out on the Future World: Where Art Meets Science exhibition! Our absolute favourite photo spot is the Crystal Universe dotted with 170,000 LED lights. You'll truly feel as if you've been transported into another planet in this space.
4. Clarke Quay
End your final night in Singapore at Clarke Quay, a lively area located on the banks of the Singapore River. Clarke Quay is one of Singapore's nightlife hotspots, with lots of restaurants, bars, and clubs to chill at after the sun goes down. You can sit by the river and watch the sun set against a backdrop of colourful colonial-era buildings and docked bumboats that rock along with the waves. To see Singapore from a different perspective, you can even hop aboard a relaxing 40-minute cruise ride that begins from the Clark Quay jetty!
5. Have Chilli Crab For Dinner
End your Singapore trip on a high note by having chilli crab for your last meal. Sweet, spicy, and tangy chilli crab is Singapore's unofficial national dish that can be easily found on menus across the country, whether in hawker centres, casual seafood joints, or fancy restaurants. Here are some spots as recommended by the locals on where you can get some of the best chilli crabs in Singapore:
- No Signboard Seafood Restaurant
- Mellben Seafood
- Roland Restaurant
- Long Beach Seafood
- HolyCrab
Pssst, if you're heading to Clarke Quay in the evening (as recommended in this itinerary), you can have dinner at Red House Seafood Restaurant or House of Seafood, both located in the area. Enjoy up to 50% off when you book your dining vouchers on Klook!
