[Review] #KlookTries: We Had A Dinner Date In A Hotel Room Transformed Into A Mini Forest!

Brought to you by the same folks behind other inventive dining experiences in KL such as Dinner In The Sky and Plane In The City, DinnerDate Malaysia is designed for unprecedented (and weird) times like these. Instead of rubbing shoulders with the crowds at hip new cafes or overhyped dining spots in the city, you can now enjoy an intimate dinner date in the comforts of a specially-decorated hotel room at Element Kuala Lumpur Hotel, away from long queues and the prying eyes of others. The 3-course private dinner is perfect for special occasions such as anniversary celebrations, intimate birthday dinners, or simply a fun date with the one you love!

We've seen photos of the DinnerDate rooms prior to our visit, but seeing the room we chose in person was ten times better than it looked on photos, and we were honestly very pleasantly surprised. The room you reserve is basically dedicated to you and your date only, and the only other person you'll come into contact with is your friendly waiter for the night, who'll welcome you warmly with iced peach juice and serve your courses one after another. No, he will not be in the room while you eat, so don't start worrying about the awkwardness!

The intimate DinnerDate experience is available at 3 converted hotel rooms at Element Kuala Lumpur Hotel, with only two exclusive seatings each every night at 6PM and 8PM. Choose between three distinct and unique themes: Tropical Summer, Colourful Dreams, or Mediterranean Memories, each offering a temporary escape that will sweep you off your feet. Dress up for the theme to add some fun to the experience!

We chose the Tropical Summer room which welcomed us with lots of warm green foliage and calming music. Not gonna lie, it took us a lot of self-control not to hop on the bed - the vibe of the entire room was just so cosy, we felt at ease immediately upon stepping in. Upon reaching Element Kuala Lumpur Hotel, all you have to do is head up to their beautiful lobby located on the 40th floor. Simply flash your Klook e-voucher at the reception and you'll be guided to your room by your waiter for the night. We felt like VIPs as we were guided into our beautifully decorated room, where we were free to walk around and take as many photos as we wanted as there was no one else around. No judgy eyes or feeling shy as you snap away for the 'gram.

After we were given time to explore the room and settled down at our seats by the large windows, our waiter warmly served us glasses of water and iced peach tea. He also introduced us to a deck of 'flirt cards' that are perfect for couples who wish to infuse a bit of fun and cheekiness to your date night conversation. Get ready to know your date a bit more through a series of funny and intimate guiding questions!

Once we were ready to start our dinner, the waiter came in with our appetizers, which turned out to be our favourite dish of the night! The Norwegian Smoked Salmon Pinwheels appetizer consisted of cream cheese wrapped in rolls of smoked salmon set atop apple carpaccio, with a side of fish roe and salad. Everything tasted fresh and so refreshing, we finished it up really quickly.

You'll get to indicate your choice of mains once you place your dinner reservation - there are four options to choose from: fish, chicken, beef, or a vegetarian pan-seared polenta. My date and I had the Barbeque-Braised Beef Brisket and Thyme Chicken Roulade, both of which came artistically presented, with sides of delicious potato croquettes, mushroom, and roasted vegetables.

After our mains were cleared away, we were surprised with a special segment that involved watching a cute video together, a plate of syringes filled with colourful fruit sauce, and some unexpected fun activity. Affectionately known as the "edible cinema" segment, we won't dive into too many details about it to retain some surprise element for those who're planning to head over!

Dessert was served last, and as one with a sweet tooth, I was delighted with the generous portion of the Dark & White Chocolate Mousse served on a vibrantly plated dish. We indulged in some sweetness over our last minutes of conversation in our little private room, with views of the twinkling KL cityscape from the huge floor-to-ceiling windows we dined next to.

If you're looking to plan a fun dinner date in a safe space away from the crowds, we'd highly recommend giving DinnerDate a try. We left hand-in-hand with a satisfied tummy and a full heart after spending over an hour of quality time together.

Insider Tip: Due to the strategic location of Element Hotel in the heart of KL, we even decided to drive a short distance to Lot 10 and popped by Don Don Donki for a little snack shopping spree - there was absolutely no queue at night, we literally had the whole store much to ourselves! For those who've been wanting to visit Don Don Donki but have been hesitant because of the crazy queues, you're very welcome for this little tip! *winks*
