DIY Some Korean Cocktails At Home
Craving for a good drink while you're confined at home? Try making these easy and fun cocktails to bring your soju game up a notch! These drinks are refreshing, colourful, and super easy-to-make - you can also get creative and swap out any of the ingredients for something that's more of your liking. Let's get started!
1. Yogurt Soju (Soju + Yakult + Sprite)
This is one of the most popular ways to drink soju in Korea! Add some Yakult (or any other form of cultured milk drink such as Vitagen) and sprite to your soju and voila, you've produced an easy-to-drink cocktail with 3 very simple ingredients. We love how the Yakult adds some sweetness to the drink and tones down the otherwise boozy flavour of the soju.
Mixture:
- 50% Sprite/7 Up/Chilsung Cider
- 25% Yakult
- 25% Soju
2. Pineapple Soju (Soju + Pineapple + Sprite)
If you're craving for a fruity drink that's not too much for a chill day, the pineapple soju cocktail in the well-balanced cocktail you need. You can use fresh pineapple slices or pineapple juice depending on availability - make sure you pop in some ice cubes and you're ready for a Netflix party with a cocktail in hand.
3. Soju Coffee (Soju + Coffee)
Here’s Korea’s response to an Irish coffee! This simple mixture of coffee and soju might just be your companion to last you through your day. You can use any coffee of your choice to produce a drink of your preference - black coffee or milk coffee both works depending on whether you want it to taste more bitter or more creamy.
Mixture:
- 80% Coffee
- 20% Soju
4. Strawberry Infusion Soju
Infuse some strawberries and lemon with soju and chill it up to get a fruity cocktail that will get you addicted! This drink is a perfect balance of sweet, sour, and bitterness. All you have to do is cut your strawberries and lemon into slices, place them in a pitcher with sugar, ice, and soju and let it sit for 3 - 5 days in the fridge. The longer you let it infuse, the more flavourful it will be! Pssst, make more in one go so you can fill yourself a glass whenever you feel like it.
5. Cojinganmek (Cola + Soju + Beer)
You might have heard of the somaek (soju + beer), but here’s an upgrade not to be missed. Meet your new go-to mixture – cojinganmak! This concoction contains two different shots – soju and coke – stacked inside a cup of beer. The drink starts with the taste of beer and soju, and ends with the refreshing sweetness of coke. Be careful – the sweetness of the coke disguises how potent this drink actually is, so do drink with caution and don't go overboard!
Mixture:
- 10% Shot of Coke
- 10% Shot of Soju
- 90% Cup of Beer
6. Ujjujju Melony (Melona + Soju + Sprite)
This cocktail is the perfect fix for the hot days! Quench the heat by adding a melon ice cream popsicle and sprite to your good old glass of soju - the end product is creamy, icy, sweet, and will get you craving for another glass. In case you're not a fan of melon, you can opt for a popsicle with the flavour of your liking! Our alternative favourites are honeydew and banana.

- 60% Soju
- 40% Sprite
7. Korean Screwdriver (Orange Juice + Soju)
Adapted from your typical Screwdriver (orange juice + vodka), Koreans have put their spin on it by replacing the vodka with soju. You’ll be surprised by how much the taste changes because of this switch!

- 80% Orange Juice
- 20% Soju
8. Subak Soju (Watermelon Soju)
This drink is great for parties! Subak Soju is made from blending watermelon with soju and then using the remaining watermelon shell as a bowl to drink from. While it may take a little more effort to create, this combination is sure to impress your friends.

- 1 Watermelon
- 1 Bottle of Soju
- 1 Cup of Ice
9. White Grape Beer (Beer + Bong Bong)
Embrace the newest fad in Korea – Korean beer and Bong Bong white grape juice! The sweet white grape pulps add a refreshing texture, making your beer even more pleasant to drink. You’ll definitely get addicted to this mix.

- 50% Bong Bong White Grape Juice
- 50% Korean Beer
10. Red Eye (Beer + Tomato Juice)
If your head is hurting the next day from a whole night of drinking, here’s a quick drink to help with that hangover. A combination of tomato juice and beer (if you have any leftover from last night) provides a savoury saviour from your misery! Add an egg into the mix to boost your recovery.
Mixture:
- 50% Tomato Juice
- 50% Beer
- 1 Raw Egg (Optional)
11. Enerzizer (Soju + Gatorade + Red Bull)
If you need a little perk-me-up to get through the day, this drink will do the trick! This combination of soju, Gatorade, and Hot 6 (Korea’s Red Bull) is sure to give you that boost to power through the day. It's perfect for those nights when you wish to stay up late as well!

- 20% Soju
- 40% Gatorade
- 40% Hot 6
12. Chewy Jelly (Lemon Vodka + Vitamin Water + Bong Bong + Fruit Cocktail)
If you’re looking for a fruity fix, look no further than Chewy Jelly! This mixture brings 4 fruit flavoured elements together while providing an alcoholic kick. You can use a flavoured vodka like KGB Vodka and mix it with your preferred flavour of Vitamin Water. Finish the combination off with a can of Bong Bong and a spoon of fruit cocktail.
