DIY Durian Desserts To Enjoy At Home

7 Easy Durian Dessert Recipes
1. Durian Ice Cream Recipe
If you love sweet and creamy ice cream, this one's for you. Our no-churn durian ice cream recipe is simple to make at home without an ice cream machine. Perfect to indulge in with our hot and sunny weather, this ice cream is the perfect cool treat and tastes just like you're eating the fruit itself.
What you need:
- 250g durian pulp
- 300ml whipped cream
- 9oz/250g condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 pinch salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel off 250g of durian pulp, approximately 5-7 pieces according to the fruit size.
- Put half (130g) into a blender/food processor, then blend until smooth.
- In another bowl, pour in cold whipping cream.
- Prepare an ice bath, then place the whipping cream over it.
- Add in vanilla extract.
- Whip on high speed, stop once the cream has soft peaks.
- Add in condensed milk, blended durian pulp and a pinch of salt (optional).
- Whisk on low speed until well mixed.
- Add in the remaining 120g of peeled durian pulp and lightly mix it in.
- In a large enough container, pour in the durian ice cream mixture.
- Lightly tap to even out the ice cream mixture.
- Close the container tightly, then store it in the freezer overnight.

2. Durian Pancake Recipe
You can never go wrong with pancakes and we can't think of a more unique flavour than durian pancakes. These fluffy and easy-to-make pancakes are suitable to enjoy even for breakfast, and have a light durian flavour that is enjoyable even for those who aren't fans of the fruit itself.
What you need:
- 30g durian pulp
- 4 eggs, separate the yolks & whites
- 170g all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 60g caster sugar
- 200ml fresh milk
- Salt (optional)
- Butter, to grease
Instructions:
- Sift flour, baking powder, sugar and a pinch of salt (optional) together in a bowl.
- In another bowl, beat the egg whites until it reaches stiff peaks.
- Peel off 30g of durian pulp, approximately 1-2 durian pieces depending on size.
- Put durian pulp into a blender/food processor, then blend until smooth.
- Add blended durian flesh in another bowl with egg yolks and milk, then beat together until smooth.
- Stir the durian mixture into dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth.
- Add beaten egg whites into batter and gently fold the mixture until mixed.
- Grease a frying pan, then pour a spoonful of batter onto it and cook until the surface is golden brown.
- Repeat Step 8 until all batter is finished.

3. Durian Cake Recipe
Whether you're planning to throw a party or simply to have a cake to indulge in over tea time, a durian cake would be a great idea for any durian lover out there. Follow this easy durian chiffon cake recipe for an elegant fluffy cake that's soft and light, yet flavourful enough to satisfy your taste buds.
What you need:
- 60g fresh durian pulp
- 4 eggs, separate the eggs and yolks
- 40g vegetable oil
- 50g all-purpose flour
- 50ml milk
- 50g caster sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 30g powdered sugar, to dust
- Chiffon cake pan (optional)
Instructions:
- Peel off 60g of durian pulp, approximately 2 durian pieces depending on size.
- Put durian pulp and milk into a blender/food processor, then blend until smooth and set aside.
- Sift flour into a bowl, then pour in vegetable oil and whisk until well mixed.
- Add blended durian mixture and egg yolks in, then whisk again until well mixed.
- In another bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar on medium-high speed. Gradually add sugar in three times, until the mixture reaches stiff peaks.
- Add 1/3 of egg white meringue into the durian mixture and mix lightly.
- With the remaining 2/3 of egg white meringue, carefully fold it in the rest of the mixture.
- Preheat oven at 170°C for 5 minutes.
- Pour cake mix into cake pan, then bake in oven at 170°C for 15 minutes, before lowering it down to 150°C for 35 minutes.
- Remove from oven and set aside to cool. Once cooled, dust with sugar and serve.

4. Durian Crepe Recipe
If you're a fan of the light and creamy goodness that is the durian pillow crepe, you should definitely try making some of them yourself at home. The very thin pancake layers folded and filled with sweet cream and durian pieces are an absolute delight to have at anytime of the day, especially when they're cold!
What you need:
- 150g all-purpose flour
- 330ml fresh milk
- 1/2 tablespoon butter, melted
- 2 eggs
- 400g of durian pulp
- 250ml of whipping cream
- 1 tablespoon caster sugar
- Salt
Instructions:
- Mix flour, milk, butter, eggs and a pinch of salt (optional) in a bowl until well mixed.
- Pour mixture over a sieve into another bowl to get a fine and smooth batter.
- Pour batter onto a lightly greased non-stick frying pan and swirl it around to get a very thin layer. Cook over a low fire until pancake solidifies.
- Repeat Step 3 until all the batter is finished.
- Add cold whipping cream and sugar into a bowl, then whip on high speed until it reaches stiff peaks.
- Peel and mash 400g of durian pulp, approximately 8-10 pieces depending on the size.
- Add mashed durian pulp into whipped cream mixture and mix gently.
- Take a tablespoon of durian whipped cream and place onto the center of a pancake, then fold all sides into the middle, forming it into a small, puffed pillow.
- Repeat Step 8 until all durian whipped cream is finished, then chill before serving.

5. Durian Shake Recipe
We definitely had to add in a durian drink recipe into the mix. Perfect for the hot weather, whip up this super simple and easy-to-make durian shake. It's truly a serving of creamy goodness that you can sip on anytime throughout the day.
What you need:
- 2-3 durian pieces
- Vanilla ice cream
- Ice
Instructions:
- Peel 40g of durian pulp, approximately 1-2 durian pieces depending on size.
- In a blender, add durian pulp, 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream and 6-8 cubes of ice.
- Blend all ingredients until smooth.
- Serve in glass & garnish with a piece of fresh durian.

6. Durian Cream Puff Recipe
Pastry lovers would enjoy this delightful durian dessert - the durian cream puff is a popular durian treat amongst locals and it's no wonder, especially with how light and creamy it is. Choux pastry is easy to work with, so this simple cream puff recipe is great even for beginners at baking.
What you need:
- 65g all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon caster sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 60g unsalted butter
- 120ml water
- 2 large eggs
- 500g durian pulp
- 150ml heavy whipping cream
- 20g icing sugar, to dust
Instructions:
- In a bowl, sift the flour, sugar and salt together.
- Add butter and water together in a pot, then boil over medium heat.
- Once the butter has fully melted, remove the pot from the heat and add in the flour mixture.
- Whisk until the dough is well-mixed, then return pot to the heat and continuously stir with a spatula until the dough begins to form into a thick and smooth lump. Set aside to cool.
- Once cooled, lightly beat the eggs and add into the mixture, then whisk until the dough forms a smooth and thick paste.
- Preheat oven at 200°C for 5 minutes.
- Line a baking tray with non-stick paper and pipe small mounds of the dough onto it.
- With wet and clean fingers, dab the tops of the mounds to flatten the tip of each dough.
- Bake the pastry dough for 15 minutes in the oven for 200°C, then 180°C for another 20 minutes.
- While waiting for the dough to bake, add whipping cream into a bowl and whisk on high speed until stiff peaks form.
- Peel 500g of durian pulp, approximately 10 durian pieces depending on the size.
- Put durian pulp into a blender/food processor, then blend until smooth.
- Add in the blended durian into the cream and whisk at medium speed until well-mixed.
- Once baked until golden-brown and cooled, cut the pastries into half and then fill with the durian cream.
- Dust the cream puffs with icing sugar and serve.

7. Durian Mochi Recipe
Ending this list with our favourite durian dessert of all time, here's our fail-proof durian mochi recipe that's guaranteed to satisfy all your mochi cravings. This chewy, creamy dessert is great for sharing with your friends and family, and is a nice way to introduce durians to those wanting to give the king of fruits a try.
What you need:
- 220g of durian pulp
- 50g glutinous rice flour
- 10g cooked glutinous rice flour
- 35g sugar
- 15g corn starch
- 10g butter
- 85g milk
- 150g whipping cream
Instructions:
- In a bowl, whisk the flour, 15g sugar, corn starch and milk together until well-mixed.
- Sift the mixture into another bowl and cover it with a cling wrap.
- Microwave the bowl for 3 minutes, or alternatively, steam it for 15 minutes.
- Once removed and cooled, add butter and mix again until well-combined.
- Place the doughy mixture onto a clean surface and start kneading it until its soft, smooth and stretchy.
- Wrap the dough in cling wrap, then place in the fridge to chill.
- Peel 220g of durian, approximately 5-6 pieces depending on size.
- Put durian pulp into a blender/food processor, then blend until smooth and set aside.
- In a bowl, add whipping cream and 10g of sugar, then whisk until stiff peaks form.
- Add in half of the blended durian (120g) and whisk until well-mixed.
- Fill the cream into a piping bag and place in the fridge to chill.
- On a clean surface, spread cooked glutinous rice over it.
- Take out the chilled dough from the fridge and shape it into a long, flat piece over the glutinous rice flour.
- Cut the dough into 5-6 pieces.
- Shape a piece as round as possible. Make sure that it's not too thin - these would be your mochi skin.
- Get a round cup or container to hold the mochi skin.
- Pipe the chilled durian cream onto the centre of the mochi skin, then top it off with a teaspoon of durian paste and a bit more cream.
- Pinch the corners of the mochi skin together to wrap the cream filling. Make sure it's secure so that no cream leaks out!
- Dust the sealed area with a little of the cooked glutinous rice flour, then place the mochi into a cupcake liner.
- Repeat steps 15-19 until all dough pieces are used up, then chill before serving.
