KL's First Drive-In Cinema Set To Open On 28 July In Jalan Ampang!

Earlier in July, it was announced that KL's first drive-in cinema will be debuting soon. After an exciting wait, more details have finally been announced - it seems like they've got the date and venue sorted out!

KL's first drive-in cinema will be launched on the 28th of July 2020 at the Lanai parking lot beside MaTiC along Jalan Ampang, right in the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It is set to be open to public for the next three months!

The M-Junction Drive-In Cinema is brought to you by TwoSpicy Entertainment Live (the team behind Dinner In The Sky, Plane In The City, and Whimsy!) in collaboration with MD Events Asia.

According to an article by Malay Mail, the idea of the drive-in cinema came after a random chat between the organizers, and they decided they wanted to do something different and help the economy at the same time. In fact, although they will be starting off with the drive-in cinema, they are looking forward to expanding into more fun and exciting concepts like drive-in concerts, drive-in comedy shows, and more!

Not much information has been released about the movies that will be screened at the drive-in cinema, but according to the organizers, they will be playing "movies that people would go watch over and over again,". This includes titles like Titanic, Crazy Rich Asians, and Jangan Pandang Belakang.

There will be two screenings per day, at 730PM - 9PM, and from 9PM onwards. The organizers have also mentioned that there will be a capacity limit of only 50 vehicles per screening, with sedan type cars placed at the front row, and the rows at the back reserved for bigger vehicles to ensure clear views for everyone.

The cinema will feature a nine by four metres LED screen, and vehicles will be able to enjoy audio from their own radio player, connected via Bluetooth or Aux port. Bluetooth speakers will be provided with vehicles without an Aux port or Bluetooth option.

The drive-in cinema will be adhering to the SOP set by the National Security Council, with measures like temperature checks and disinfection processes put in place.

Malaysians will soon be able to watch movies from the comfort of your car with your friends, family, or date, and we're excited to experience it for the first time! With a long weekend and some public holidays coming up soon, this is perhaps something to add on to your plans.
