12 New Openings Across The Globe To Look Forward To
1. Universal Beijing Resort
The pandemic put a halt on many industries and projects in 2020, but the construction of the fifth and largest Universal Studios theme park did not slow down much. Despite a brief halt when the pandemic outbreak was at large in China last year, the building schedule got back on track quickly after. Universal Beijing Resort is scheduled to open in 2021 and will be home to seven exciting themed lands, two hotels, and a shopping and entertainment district. Some attractions to look forward to include the first Kung Fu Panda Land of Awesomeness in Asia, the second Hogwarts Castle in Asia, as well as the largest Minion Land in the world!
2. Lotte's Magic Forest, Busan
Ready to explore a magic forest? The iconic Lotte World theme park is often at the top of the list when it comes to must-visits in South Korea - now, Busan is set to have their very own theme park that will be 4 times bigger than Lotte World! Lotte's Magic Forest will be Asia's first European-style theme park with six nature-inspired theme zones, plenty of family-friendly rides and attractions, roller coasters, performances, and a beautiful castle that looks straight out of a fairytale. We heard that it will have a vibe that's very different from Lotte World but equally as magical. Which Lotte theme park do you think you'll like more?
3. Super Nintendo World, Universal Studios Japan
Originally supposed to welcome visitors in 2020 in line with the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, the opening of Universal Studios Japan's all-new Super Nintendo World took a big hit when COVID-19 placed an emergency brake on international travel. However, Super Nintendo World finally opened its doors in 2021, much to the excitement of Nintendo fans in Japan. The Super Nintendo World is the first attraction based on the firm's games, not only will visitors get to hop on rides inspired by the games, you'll be surrounded by familiar iconic buildings and sights such as Bowser's Castle, Super Mushrooms, moving blocks and coins, and more. Pssst, make sure you also pop by the world's first Mario Cafe for lunch!
4. Harry Potter Studio by Warner Bros, Tokyo
Potterheads, rejoice! Get ready to be whisked off to a magical wonderland at the Harry Potter Studio by Warner Bros, scheduled to open its doors in the first half of 2023. The studio will be constructed on the site of a 94-year-old amusement park in Tokyo and is expected to be a large-scale, immersive facility that will allow fans to step into the magical worlds of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts. Some things to look forward to at the Harry Potter Studio include life-sized, realistic production sets, actual film props and costumes, and more.
5. Studio Ghibli Theme Park, Aichi
Set to open in autumn 2022, the work-in-progress Studio Ghibli Theme Park is going to be heaven-on-earth for fans of Studio Ghibli films. Located in Japan's Aichi Prefecture, the theme park will house five themed lands with building replicas and fun rides that pay homage to popular Studio Ghibli films such as Spirited Away, Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbour Totoro, and more. The whimsical Studio Ghibli Theme Park will be nestled within the Aichi Expo Memorial Park in Aichi Prefecture, a countryside prefecture located east of Nagoya which can be reached within three hours by train from Tokyo. We can already imagine it as a popular day trip destination for those travelling to Tokyo!
6. Sky Lagoon, Iceland
Most people know of the iconic Blue Lagoon in Iceland, but did you know that there's a new oceanfront geothermal lagoon nestled against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean? The all-new Sky Lagoon offers visitors impressive views of the expansive ocean while reconnecting with their mind, body, and spirit. It features a swim-up in-lagoon bar, a 70-meter infinity-edge pool, sauna, a space for dining and shopping, and more. We heard that you'll even get to witness the Northern Lights dance before your eyes if you're lucky!
7. Avengers Campus, Disneyland Park
Avengers, Assemble! The Avengers Campus is an all-new land that's now open at Disneyland Resort, California. The new park area located within the Disney California Adventure Park features an Avengers Compound, a Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man attraction, a dining area called Pym's Test Kitchen (where you can feast on innovative foods put together by scientists working with Ant-Man and the Wasp), and more. Visitors will be able to spot Easter eggs from the Marvel Cinematic Universe cleverly hidden around the compound as well as catch a glimpse of Marvel characters such as Black Panther, Black Widow, Thor, Loki, Doctor Strange, and more during character meet-and-greet sessions!
8. Disney Wish Cruise
Disney Cruise Line unveiled Disney Wish, the cruise line's brand new luxury cruise liner that will make all Disney fans' wildest dream come true. They have been releasing bits and pieces of exciting things to look forward aboard Disney Wish which includes the first-ever Marvel cinematic dining adventure, game show nights and live shows (featuring Disney character lookalikes such as Disney Princesses we all know and love!), a Frozen-themed dining experience, and more. The Disney Cruise Line has even announced its Halloween and Christmas cruise lineup for 2022! Guests can expect holiday decor, festive food and drinks, Disney characters dressed in holiday-themed outfits, cruise parties, and more.
9. Legoland New York
Originally set to debut in 2020, Legoland New York's opening had to be pushed back due to the COVID-19 pandemic and finally opened its doors to excited guests in July 2021. Legoland New York occupies 150 acres and is currently the biggest Legoland park in the world, housing seven themed lands and a wide variety of family-friendly attractions and rides. The theme park is also grounds to a 250-room Legoland Hotel where guests can sleep in themed rooms featuring bunk beds for the little ones, in-room treasure hunts, and nightly entertainment! For those who wish to travel to New York post-pandemic, make sure you add Legoland New York onto your checklist.

10. Lionsgate Entertainment World, Zhuhai
The Lionsgate Entertainment World is Lionsgate's first theme park and Asia's first movie-themed vertical theme park. This one-of-a-kind indoor interactive theme park located in Zhuhai features 25 attractions from global film franchises and Chinese box office hits including The Hunger Games, The Twilight Saga, Divergent, Escape Plan, and Now You See Me. From multiplayer interactive VR simulator rides to an immersive escape room experience, make sure you're ready for sensational experiences from the moment you step in.
11. Hello Kitty Theme Park, Hainan
A Hello Kitty Theme Park is set to open in Sanya's Haitang Bay, a popular beach city in Hainan, China! The theme park will be spread over 52 acres and will include a 250-room luxury hotel, shopping facilities, and a theme park area. Construction has finally begun in 2021 and the park is currently scheduled to open in the second half of 2024. The developer of the theme park has already signed a licensing agreement that will allow them to use over 400 trademark characters such as Hello Kitty, My Melody, and Gudetama within the theme park vicinity. Hello Kitty fans, it's time to start saving up for your post-pandemic trip!
12. The London Resort
The construction of The London Resort was announced back in 2012. Now scheduled to open in 2024, the complex will feature Europe's largest indoor water park, theatres, live music venues, cinemas, hotels, restaurants, and a variety of attractions. Some exciting attractions that have been announced include a dinosaur-themed "base camp" land, an 'underwater' fine dining venue, and attractions based on popular films and blockbusters such as Doctor Who, Sherlock, Mission: Impossible, and more! While a lot of information has not been confirmed and may be subject to change, we're patiently looking forward to its scheduled opening in 2024!
