2. The Hungry Tapir, Petaling Street
The Hungry Tapir is a vibrant plant-based restaurant and bar nestled in a heritage building at the heart of Petaling Street. Decked out in splashes of bright pink, monochrome cushions, and potted plants, the restaurant serves up a delicious range of vegetarian and vegan dishes that look and taste amazing.
From pink bombshell burgers to rainbow ulam fried rice and truffle baked mac & cheese, we promise you'll want to come back after your first try. 14. Mr. Chew's Chino Latino Bar
Housed in a beautiful loft-like space in Bukit Bintang, Mr. Chew's Chino Latino Bar is part of the Troika Sky Dining gang. Get ready to be delighted by inventive dishes such as tiger prawn dumplings, salmon nori tacos (stuffed with salmon belly, salmon roe, and tobiko mayo!), Korean duck fajitas, and pan-seared baramundi. 16. Po Cha Korean BBQ, Ampang
Po Cha is a hidden gem tucked away in an unsuspecting shop lot in Ampang. If you're craving some authentic Korean food, here's the place to head to. Run by an old Korean couple, this is a no-frills eatery that doesn't even have a proper signboard, has walls plastered with scraps of paper, a narrow corridor, handwritten menus, and private dining rooms separated by wood partitions.
You can get the usual Korean dishes here from delicious Korean pancakes to teokbokki with ramen, cold noodles, and comforting soups. Do note though that it is known to be pretty hard to get a seat, and the owners do not speak much English.
