One of the must-visit night markets in Taipei, Ningxia Night Market is a popular night market with the locals, and for good reason too. They even won first place in the Taipei Night Market Awards in 2015 - so you know you definitely have to check it out for yourself.

1. Liu Yu Zi (劉芋仔蛋黃芋餅)
From 2018 till now, Liu Yu Zi has been consistently recommended by the Michelin Bib Gourmand, despite only selling two things - crispy taro balls and egg yolk taro cake. Especially for visitors who visit Ningxia Night Market for food, one of the first things they queue for is the egg yolk taro cake.
Their business is so good that you'll often see long queues in front of their stall. The crispy taro balls are filled with fragrant taro paste, while the egg yolk taro cake is topped with savoury egg yolk and pork floss. Delicious!

2. Yuen Huan Pien Oyster Egg Omelette (圓環邊蚵仔煎)
Yuen Huan Pien Oyster Egg Omelette was established in 1965 and is a famous oyster omelette shop with nearly 60 years of history on Ningxia Road. They also won the Michelin Plate recommendation from 2018 to 2021 - so you probably won't want to miss this.
They offer a variety of oyster dishes including oyster omelette, oyster soup, and garlic-dried oysters. In particular, their famous must-try oyster omelette uses oysters shipped daily from Tainan, which are fresh, plump and juicy, and topped with a yummy Taiwanese-style red sauce, and fresh vegetables!

3. Rong's Pork Liver (豬肝榮仔)
A popular stall in Ningxia Night Market, Rong's Pork Liver also comes with a history spanning almost 60 years. With long queues of people waiting to try their dishes, this spot has been recommended by the Michelin Guide for two years in a row.
Their speciality is the Pig Liver Soup which tastes hearty and nourishing - and they also offer a variety of soups and meat dumplings, as well as a unique Taiwanese-style scallion taro cake on the menu.

4. Niu Mama (牛媽媽沙茶牛肉)
Love a good beef dish? Head to Niu Mama, a 60-year-old stall at Ningxia Night Market that specialises in delicious beef dishes. From sautéed beef noodles to beef liver and heart, their menu is extensive and features locally-sourced beef that's been carefully selected by the owners.
One standout dish is the tasty braised pork rice that's become a favourite among foodies. The meat is juicy and tender paired with crispy bamboo shoots - it's a perfect match made in culinary heaven! 😋

5. Huan Ji Sesame Oil Chicken (環記麻油雞)
Welcome to Huan Ji Sesame Oil Chicken, yet another stall with over 60 years of history! Using traditional Xincheng sesame oil to enhance the flavours in their dishes, the owners of the stall are very particular about the quality of ingredients used, from the sesame oil to the chickens sourced.
Due to the quality of the food, the stall has an interesting reputation, with international celebrities like Will Smith enjoying the food served here. When you're here, keep a look out for this stall, check out the menu and choose from a variety of dishes such as sesame oil chicken, ginseng chicken and more!

6. Zhi Gao Rice (知高飯)
Another legendary stall at Ningxia Night Market, Zhi Gao Rice has been around for 40 to 50 years and serves up some delicious treats. Choose from options like pork trotter rice, pork chop rice, chicken rice, and fragrant mushroom braised meat rice, as well as soups.
The signature dishes include egg and shrimp soup and crispy bamboo shoot pork rib soup - but the main highlight is the braised pork rice that uses quality pork and a flavorful braising sauce that's easily every customer's favourite here.

7. Xiao Chun Lou (小春樓滷味)
In 1916, the founder of Xiao Chun Lou, Master Ye Zhaoquan, moved from Fuzhou to Taiwan and opened a restaurant specialising in steamed buns, siew mai, braised dishes, crispy pork ribs, and more in Taipei. The business thrived and has eventually passed down to the third generation.
What's delicious to look out for here? Choose from their signature braised dishes, such as duck tongue and chicken - all dishes are made with fresh ingredients, a secret blend consisting of over ten spices, and a century-old braising sauce. YUM.

8. Qiu Yun Run Bing (秋雲潤餅)
With a name like Qiu Yun Run Bing which directly translates to "Autumn Clouds Smooth Pancake", this delicious traditional dish has been popular on Ningxia Road for decades.
It's a signature dish at Ningxia Night Market, with the pancakes topped with a savoury sweet sauce, soft and crunchy cabbage, peanuts, cilantro, braised pork, fried tofu, pickled vegetables, pork floss, and fresh bean sprouts. Tasty and satisfying, it's no wonder famous Taiwanese stars like Feng Fei Fei used to enjoy popping by for a taste!

9. Hong Ji Scallion Pancake Rolls (鴻記鐵板燒蔥餅捲)
Hong Ji Scallion Pancake Rolls offers a unique twist on traditional scallion pancakes by wrapping them around stir-fried noodles cooked on an iron grill. This creative snack is hugely popular at Ningxia Night Market and was recently voted first place at the 2021 Taipei Night Market Festival.
In addition to the scallion pancake rolls, Hongji also serves a variety of grilled dishes, including rice and noodles. Choose from a range of unique noodle roll flavours, such as kimchi cheese, Thai-style pork, and curry cheese - and don't miss giving this delicious fusion snack a try!

10. Ningxia Yue Shi Scallions Pancake (月氏激蛋蔥油餅)
Ningxia Yue Shi Scallions Pancake is named after the boss's mother, who had been selling traditional scallion pancakes at Ningxia Night Market for over 60 years.
The second-generation owner continues the tradition to date with freshly made pancakes, including the famous egg scallion pancake with basil, made by pressing and frying the dough before adding fresh scallions, organic eggs, and basil for extra flavour. Don't forget to try their special garlic, spicy sauces, or even the salted duck egg yolk sauce!

11. Beans Village (豆花莊)
Looking for delicious desserts in Ningxia Night Market? Look no further than Beans Village! Established in 1965, this desert shop has been serving up traditional, melt-in-your-mouth soya bean pudding for nearly 60 years. What sets Beans Village apart from the usual run-of-the-mill soya bean pudding shops is their use of specially made syrup that makes their pudding even more refreshing and delicious.
And with toppings like red bean, green bean, and taro balls, as well as sesame paste-filled glutinous rice balls, there's something for everyone here.
