It's getting easier to travel to Thailand!
After a travel ban for close to two years, the authorities of Thailand announced on 20 January that they will be reopening their borders and resuming their quarantine-free travel lane to vaccinated tourists of all nationalities, including Malaysians from 1st February 2022! Thailand's Travel Requirements
Who can travel to Thailand?
From 1 February onwards, quarantine-free entry to Thailand will be made available to applicants of all nationalities, including Malaysians. In order to travel to Thailand, you will have to be fully vaccinated. Children below 12 years old are exempt from the vaccination requirements but have to be accompanied by a fully-vaccinated person aged 18 or above.
Checklist of documents & tests required for travel to Thailand:
- One COVID-related document: You will have to present either a COVID-19 vaccination certificate OR a negative PCR or professionally administered RTK test result (*pre-departure test taken within 72 hours before departure is required if you are unvaccinated). Both print and digital formats are acceptable. Children can enter without proof of vaccination or test if their parents are fully vaccinated.

[Update, 23 April] From 1 May onwards, travellers will no longer need to take an on-arrival PCR test or book a one-night stay at an SHA approved hotel.
[Update, 20 June] From 1 July onwards, travellers will no longer need to apply for the Thailand Pass to enter Thailand! Travel insurance will also no longer be mandatory, though it is still recommended to travel without worries. [Update, 15 July] Thailand has announced that the country will begin imposing a 300 baht tourism fee later this year. Once this is enforced, all foreigners entering Thailand will have to pay the fee that will serve as an insurance coverage of up to 500,000 baht per person.

Do I need to take a pre-departure swab test?
Starting 1 April 2022, fully-vaccinated travellers will no longer need to take a pre-departure PCR test to enter Thailand. If you're unvaccinated, you'll be required to take a PCR or professionally administered RTK test within 72 hours before departure.
Will I need to quarantine after coming back to Malaysia?
Malaysians who travel overseas from 1 April 2022 will no longer need to quarantine upon entry/return to Malaysia. Pre-entry tests are also no longer required from 1 May 2022.
