Rules & Requirements For Malaysians Travelling To Vietnam
Who can travel to Vietnam?
Vaccinated travelers aged 12+, as well as those who have recovered from COVID-19 within the past 6 months, can travel to Vietnam as long as they have a valid visa and comply with the specified COVID-19 travel requirements. Malaysians do not need a visa to travel to Vietnam as long as your stay is less than 30 days.
[Update, May 2022] Vietnam will be ending all COVID-related entry requirements in June 2022. Travellers can now enter Vietnam without having to present any proof of vaccination, PCR tests, or health declarations. Both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals can now travel to Vietnam quarantine and test-free.
Do I need to do a swab test to travel to Vietnam?
While travellers were previously required to take a pre-departure PCR or Antigen Rapid Test (also known as RTK-Ag test) before travelling to Vietnam, the country removed all COVID-19 testing requirements from 15 May 2022 onwards. Travellers no longer need to take any pre-departure or on-arrival tests to enter Vietnam.
Checklist of documents & tests required for travelling to Vietnam:
1a. Proof of Vaccination: Visitors aged 12+ must show proof of vaccination, wherein the last dose must have been given at least 14 days before your visit but not more than six months ago. If you have completed your full dose more than six months ago, you must first get a booster shot before you can visit Vietnam. [no longer required]
1b. Proof of Recovery: Visitors aged 12+ who have contracted and recovered from COVID within the last six months can instead present proof of recovery from the coronavirus. [no longer required]

No, you will no longer have to quarantine upon arrival in Vietnam. The country has also scrapped the need to take an on-arrival Antigen Test.
Will I need to quarantine after coming back to Malaysia?
Malaysians who travel overseas from 1 April 2022 will no longer need to quarantine upon entry/return to Malaysia. There will also be no tests required to re-enter the country.
