The kids had so much fun at the National Deer Park. We didn't try the deer feeding experience because the deer weren't as docile as we thought. But they had fun just taking pictures with them and watching them. Kiyomizu-dera doesn't have the quiet and peaceful feel of the old days. There are too many people. Still, it's worth a visit at least once.

The hotel is very close to the bus stop, and you can check in immediately after getting off the bus. The hotel staff are also very helpful, friendly and polite. The room equipment is also good. The hot and cold water is very hot for washing in the weather, and the water output is large.

Thank you Cicy and Steven for your professional and humorous tour guide. It is a pity that my English listening is not very good. I feel that the English introduction is more detailed ~ I hope I can meet Steven and Cicy next time I go to Japan, great!

Although the itinerary is tight, being able to visit so many attractions in one day is well worth the price. Our tour guides Charles and Steven are proficient in Chinese/English/Japanese, so you don’t have to worry about language barriers. If you want to relax and have fun Kyoto, this is a great day trip option.

Hydrangea Garden

Step into a world of vibrant colors at the Hydrangea Garden of Fujinomori Shrine. Spanning an impressive 5,000 m², this garden is home to 3,500 hydrangea plants that burst into a stunning array of pink, white, blue, and purple blooms each June. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll or enjoying a moment of reflection in the garden gazebo, the Ajisai Festival offers a picturesque setting that captures the essence of Japan's rainy season. Don't miss the traditional performances and tea ceremonies that add a cultural touch to this floral spectacle.

Fujinomori Matsuri Festival

Join the excitement at the Fujinomori Matsuri Festival, a vibrant celebration held annually from May 1 to May 5. This lively event features an array of food stalls, portable shrines, and captivating Japanese drum performances. The highlight of the festival is the 'kakeuma-shinji,' an acrobatic horse-riding ritual with a 1,200-year history, where skilled riders showcase their impressive talents. Immerse yourself in the festive atmosphere and experience the rich cultural heritage of Japan through this unforgettable festival.

Horseracing Luck

For those with a passion for horseracing, Fujinomori Shrine is a unique destination that offers prayers for victory and good fortune at the track. Known for its deep connections to horses and the horseracing industry, the shrine provides visitors with the opportunity to purchase charms that are believed to bring luck in races. Whether you're a fan, a bettor, or simply curious, this shrine offers a fascinating glimpse into the spiritual side of Japan's equestrian traditions.

Cultural and Historical Significance

Fujinomori Shrine is a historic gem in Kyoto, founded by Empress Jingu. It played a crucial role in the relocation of the Heian capital and is renowned as the birthplace of Shōbu no Sekku, which has evolved into what we now celebrate as Children's Day. The shrine is deeply connected to the gods of victory and horses, making it a fascinating site for history enthusiasts and cultural explorers alike.

Annual Events

Fujinomori Shrine is alive with vibrant events throughout the year. On May 5th, the Kakeuma Shinji event showcases riders performing thrilling horseback tricks, a spectacle not to be missed. In June, the Ajisai Matsuri celebrates the stunning hydrangea blooms, offering a visual feast. These events, along with various seasonal rituals and festivals, provide a unique glimpse into the local traditions and cultural heritage.

Local Cuisine

During the Ajisai Matsuri, the festival's food stalls offer a delightful array of hydrangea-themed foods. These unique culinary treats provide a taste of local flavors, adding a delicious dimension to your festival experience. It's a perfect opportunity to indulge in the local cuisine and savor the essence of Kyoto's culinary creativity.
