Old Summer Palace Garden tours

This tour included a guide and it started in the morning with the tour of the Temple of Heaven park. We visited the main points of interest within the park by foot. We exited the park after spending about 2 hours there and headed to a nearby mall for lunch (at own expense). After lunch, a tour bus took us to the Summer Palace (travel time approx 1 hour). We spent about 2+hours there, including the optional visit of the YunWaiTianXiang which the guide recommended (10 yuan at own expense). The tour only covered part of the Summer Palace as it is a huge place and it is quite impossible to cover the whole place in half a day.

We had Edward as our guide. Good knowledge and knew what he is doing. Lots of historical info shared. Our driver, Li also great! Accomodate our needs and have a great attitude. 5 stars for both of them.

David is hilarious 😆 He speaks clearly and has a built-in loud hailer in his lungs. We started with 天坛, had an hour lunch. real ear the exit and took a comfy and clean private bus to 颐和园. No pushing for souvenirs purchase, lotsa history and explaination! He walk fast, but he always waits 👍🏻

Our amazing tour guide Edward has great breath of historical knowledge and skills to deliver the narrative of both Great wall and summer palace. Understanding the history behind the buildings especially inside the summer palace where his narration between the 2 eras (Ming & Qing). Contrasting the meaning of the place as one emperor's love for his mum and later the cruel empress holding on to power and ending the dynasty. His photography skills and knowledge of nice spots to shoot photos, trust him to take good shots. The places are amazing but having a knowledgeable guide makes it even better. highly recommended.

the guide is clear and explained well in both English and Chinese as we toured around both places. travelling to summer palace is an hour drive from temple of heaven. good that the transport is covered. helped me covered 2 main attractions within the same day.

If you ever need an English-speaking guide to The Great Wall of China & the Summer Palace, I highly recommend Ms Lucy Yue and our driver, Mr Xie. Not only are her stories highly animated and intriguing, one can tell that she is a very accomplished storyteller. The way she described China’s history on the Great Wall of China and the Summer Palace borders on lyrical. In addition, she and Mr Xie brought us to an authentic Chinese restaurant for lunch, which showcases Dong Bei cuisine. Mr Xie shared with us his recommendations on restaurants in Beijing which serves delectable morsels & dishes well-suited to our taste. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to both Ms Lucy Yue & Mr Xie for a most insightful and enjoyable tour, as well as delightfully warm hospitality!

We had a great time and experience with our guide David. Pace was good, bus transfer was smooth. He will also help you take family photos at every good spot we went. His explanation was in bilingual. English followed by Chinese… in English was ok enough however more detailed in Chinese. Unfortunately, summer palace Suzhou street was closed for renovation.

Jason was absolutely incredible and the highlight of our time in Beijing. He explains history and culture in such a fascinating manner and helps paint the entire story together for you to understand. Super understanding and incredibly passionate about China. He made my father and I’s day run perfectly smooth and even helped us with the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square the next day. We had very good food, saw every beautiful sight we wanted to see, and best of all, got to speak with Jason, who provided endless insight about China’s culture, history, and people. He even helped us find the best photo spots. I could go on forever, but simply put — we could not have been happier with our tour. My father and I unanimously agreed this was our best experience on any tour with any guide, anywhere in the world. If you are at all considering booking this tour — it is beyond worth it, and both the Great Wall and Summer Palace are must-sees in Beijing. Meeting Jason defined Beijing for us, and we could not have imagined a better day, despite the heat (and all the steps!). An extra shoutout to our driver Mr. Li, who was incredibly sweet, generous, and patient, and of course got us everywhere comfortably and safely.
