Deoksugung Palace
Historical site
Located in Seoul, Deoksugung Palace is the smallest among Seoul's five grand palaces: Gyeongbokgung Palace, Changdeokgung Palace, Changgyeonggung Palace, Deoksugung Palace, and Gyeongungung Palace. This historic site was once the final home of Emperor Gojong, the last ruler of the Joseon Dynasty and the first Emperor of Korea. King Seonjo Gojong expanded the official palace threefold during his reign, with a Russian architect designing the palace with Western-style buildings, luxurious imports, and royal banquets to officially dub it the Imperial Palace or Seogung (West Palace).
