We absolutely adored this tour in Nagano. Kieran our guide (a fellow Australian) was super friendly and a great tour guide who gave us a glimpse into life in Nagano and Japan. Zenkoji Temple is super special - I highly recommend undertaking Kaiden Merguri (Traversing under the temple - mimicking Buddhas footsteps and emerging out of darkness into light) it was one of my highlights. Seeing the Snow Monkeys was very lovely too. There were so many and it was great observing them. Overall, Nagano was one of our favourite cities in Japan and this tour is a big influence on that choice.

I can’t remember our Guides name but she was from Uruguay and had moved in the past few years to just outside Nagano. she was incredibly knowledgable, friendly, and had great English. I would 10/10 recommend this tour in the first place, but if you get that guide you are bound to have an incredible day. loved every moment!

A great day out as advertised. Sijung was a great guide. The sake tasting was interesting and lunch was excellent. The walk to the monkeys was at our own pace and well worth it. It was enough time to enjoy the monkeys.

Jens from Germany was our guide the for day. The itinerary was spot on to the information provided. Plenty of free time at Zenko-ji Temple, enjoyable sake tasting and lovely lunch. The walk into the monkey park was muddy and icey, so slippery. Bring good shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. Had a great time watching the monkeys fool around before the walk back out to the bus. Back at Nagano Station at 5:10pm.

It was great! In the end, everything was worth it for the monkeys. Lunch was typical for a tourist tour but still delicious. The walk to the monkeys is very long and was very slippery and tiring due to the ice and snow. Not everyone even made it up to the monkeys. This caused the return journey to be delayed by over an hour. You shouldn't be completely unathletic if you want to see the monkeys. But in the end it was just a great experience that was definitely worth it despite the cold, wetness and effort.
